For the life of me I can not get any version of EPGrunner to work.

I have currently got bladerunner in and working but I have optus and am trying other options so to accomodate pay tv channels.

In my latest attempt (ver 3.0) I got the following in the log :

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

Hi Tony,

V3.4 is the current version of epgrunner, try getting that, and using ezrunner (included). If you're still having problems then we'll go from there.

There's been so many bug fixes since 3.0 that there's a good chance whatever problem you're having is now fixed.

Good luck

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

Yep - ezrunner.

The only thing I have had to config was:

Data Provider1:
Country Provider: Australia
City/Region: Optus Analog Pay TV

Data Provider2:
Country Provider: Australia
City/Region: Brisbane Free to Air

The ehome directory is set to c:\windows\ehome

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

and when does the error occur? when you hit update?

Also have you tried 1 provider and a FTA?

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

Yeah - its when I hit update that this occurs (ie info in log)

I have tried different combos in the options but to no avail

It does seem a bit of a curly one.

I am wondering whether I should uninstall bladerunner and retry ?

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

you could, but that would only take care of FTA - Bladerunner doesn't do PayTV

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

hotspur - try upgrading your .NET framework to v1.1 and then try it again, make sure you apply all the security patches and hotfixes also.

Cheers

matt.

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

Matt

I have it installed already (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322)

I have oly had my unit out the box for a few days - for what its worth the Aus PC Market dude (brilliant service - plug plug !!) who dealt with my order said he had never had any luck with EPGrunner and he also has Optus.

Mike - I was saying uninstall Bladerunner not install (if that makes sense). Bladerunner actually works for me but I only installed it after failing with EPGrunner. I figured at least having fta was better than nothing.

Failing all else - does the tvharvest/quickguide option as per BenP instructions work for Optus pay tv or has the kybosh been put on that option.

2/08/2005 6:31:00 PM: Debug: Application Error: getListings Failed - System.Xml.XmlException: The root element is missing.

that there is the key "The root element is missing" which means the XML is not correct as every tag must have an opening and closing statement, if it is missing 1 then the whole thing falls to crap.

hope this helps.

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

Monster - first of all thanks for replying.

It sort of helps - as in identifying the key to the issue.

However as Manuell from Faulty Towers would say - "I know nothing" so in terms of fixing it where do I go.

MCE and PCs arent really my field of expertise.

Is the problem on my MCE box or is the issue at the EPGrunner download site?

If this question doesnt prove that "I know nothing" then nothing does.

At least if I know its my end then I can have a hunt around and see what I can fix/break further.

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

it actually says "getListings Failed" which would mean its XML DATA however i have seen .net give some missleading errors.

the only way to know for sure is download his xml data and run it through a pa.rser to see where the problem is.

Re: EPGrunner Bug - Anyone had this??

lol i don't think that's gonna help him much based on what he just said...

Try completely uninstalling .net and ezrunner and delete the epgrunner directories and all instances you can find.

Then load .net first, goto windowsupdate and get the latest patches for it. Then put epgrunner 3.4.0 on and try ezrunner again.

Good luck
