Crunchie Aspect Ratio incorrect

Hi All,

I've just started using Crunchie. My first attempt at converting widescreen dvr-ms seems to convert it incorrectly. It does not come out in wide screen but seems to be squeezed into (maybe) 4:3. The ini has 16:9 set at 720x576.

The source file is not HD.

The dvr-ms plays fine in media player, the converted avi is squished.

I am in australia and using Ru2 and a dvico pci tv card. GRaphics is Nvidea with purevideo (although I'm not sure if it uses this decoder)

All help appreciated.

Re: Crunchie Aspect Ratio incorrect

Hi StrayAlien,

720x576 is not a widescreen resolution, in fact it's actually thinner than a 4:3 resolution. Try changing the 16:9 setting to something like 624x352 in the Crunchie ini file and give it another try.

Cheers

Sambooka

Onya Sambooka, thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.

I'll set a batch to go tonight and check it in the morn and post my results here.

Again, appreciated.

Re: Crunchie Aspect Ratio incorrect

Done, cool, works a treat.

Actually, I did it in 720:405, I'll try 624:352 tonight to see if I can reduce the file size a bit (720:405 reduced the size from 2.5g to 1g). However, I must say that using 2 pass and the deinterlace the quality of the resultant AVI is nothing short of absolutely superb - stunning, even on a 50 inch plasma. It surpassed my greatest expectations.

Well done.

Thanks again.
