Crunchie Prob's

Hi everyone

I'm having trouble with crunchie. It used to work but i reloaded my computer and then ghosted it because it got full of crap. I have power dvd installed as my mpeg encoder and k lite codec pack wich includes the ffdshow codec for xvid. I have configured all the correct folders in the crunchie configurer but it wont convert the dvr-ms files. I just get this error over and over for each different file i try to encode. I can use VideoRedo alright. The bill 2 file is 720 x 576 and 16:9 ratio. There is some adds and stuff at the start which might be different ratio's though.

Mon Feb 13 18:13:28 2006 : ( RENAME) Non standard dvr-ms naming convention (

Mon Feb 13 18:16:01 2006 : ( CROP/SCALE) Detecting crop/scale settings for The B
ill 2.mpg.
Mon Feb 13 18:16:03 2006 : ( CROPDETECT) Error: Invalid mpeg file found, skippin

Mon Feb 13 18:16:03 2006 : ( CLEANUP) Removing temporary mpeg file C:\DVSRM T
oolbox Folder\The Bill 2.mpg.
Mon Feb 13 18:16:03 2006 : -----------------------------------------------------

Does any one have an idea on how to fix this?

Re: Crunchie Prob's

Uninstall the klite codec pack for starters... Always a quick way to kill an MCE system, though that may not be the problem here.

Open a dos window and cd to where you have crunchie installed.

Run crunchie on the command line like this:

crunchie.exe -d

Then post the debug output from the log here and I'll have a look at it for you.

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Crunchie Prob's

Thanks for the quick reply Arkay

I only installed the Klite codec as a playback program and didn't associatte with mpeg 2. Will it still affect it you think? It doesn't detect any other mpeg 2 decoders except for the power dvd decoder. Which XVID codec would you recommend? The crunchie log file's attached.

Re: Crunchie Prob's

Hiya.

Don't worry about the codec pack for now. The problem you have is that Crunchie isn't getting the install path from the registry for whatever reason.

I'd uninstall just Crunchie (not DVRMSToolbox) and re-install it. That should fix the problems.

If that doesn't work you'll have to manually add the registry key but I can talk you through that if necessary.

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Crunchie Prob's

Ok. You need to add the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arksoft\Arksofts Crunchie

Add a REG_SZ value called Installdir containing the path to the install directory. On my machine it is:

C:\Applications\Video\Crunchie\

Make sure you include the trailing \

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Crunchie Prob's

Glad you're enjoying it.

Feel free to experiment with DVRMSToolbox to remove the ads. I intentionally removed the function as it was not very accurate at the time I tested it.

You can use the DVRMStompeggui.exe in the DVRMSToolbox folder to use the ad cutting facility. Then just pass the resultant mpeg file to crunchie. (Though it'll be a manual process to start with).

If you can get it working nicely I can easily add it back into Crunchie as an option. I just didn't want people losing chunks of their programs via an automated process. Personally I'd rather keep and skip the ads than miss 10 minutes of my show.

Keep me posted on how you go.

Cheers,
Arkay.
