Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

I'd probably do as you suggest and remove any other codecs you have on the system that can decode divx/xvid/mpeg4 then I'd probably remove and re-install ffdshow.

Should get it going I would think. I only have 2 codecs on my machine. Purevideo and ffdshow, nothing else is required (for most circumstances).

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

hmm. Uninstalled xvid and un/reinstalled ffdshadow but nothin. Other indirect but related stuff i have installed is Nero Express, mpegable DSS decoder & Region Free CSS (these both work with cloneDVD)
I am doing another 'crunch' now as a test incase i should have had ff installed before the crunch process..

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

Ok.. Uninstall Nero Vision Express. I'm sure the sole purpose they released that pile o crap was to stop any decent video players from working

It has an mpeg4 codec inbuilt that seems to hog into everything. Only problem is it seems only capable of playing back mpeg4 video that was created with the Nero tools.

My bet is that as soon as it's gone you'll get video.

Cheers,
Arkay.

HHmmm.....

After finish crunchie, the computer becomes very slow. CPU is running only at 10%. Like memmory leak or something...

Thus, I have to reboot each time after running crunchie otherwise the computer just running like a snail.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

Am I misunderstanding the log file, or is there an error?
When I setup crunchie to "Only Compress files that are more than 2 days old" it seems in the file scan to not "exclude" the recently recorded files. But as it is working, it does not process the files that are not within date range - so works just fine.

For example even though log says all four files listed below will be included, only the oldest (3 days old) is processed - therefore correctly working as setup in "configurator".

James,

Sorry dude... Not sure about that one. Not been reported by anyone else and certainly not seen on my machine(s). Might be an OS problem on your side?

Cheers,
Arkay.

Congrats go to Thorny Devil for noticing and reporting the first bug in 1.1
You're spot on. Logs it incorrectly but still does the right thing. That's what adding logging info at 2am can do for you.

I've now fixed the bug. You can download and replace just the crunchie.exe in the program group folder (get it here).

I've also upgraded the release version (I didn't change the number though I probably should have). So no one else gets caught by this... (Not really a biggy as the functionality was ok).

Extra Rep points for you though!! Hope that's the worst bug that gets reported!

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

Arkay,

Is there a easy way to REMOVE the detect and crop. Im finding too many shows are being cropped that are widescreen. Im not worries about losing space right now as I have a TB of space to pay with. I think getting the Aspect Ratio right is a little more important for me

Cheerz

Eh??? You mean it's failing on detecting the right aspect ratio???? That's a bug dude.

Why is it that people are so used to crap software that when something like this happens they don't tell anyone!!!! Arrrghhh.

No one has told me aspect ratio detection is failing. Can you give me some details. Rather than disable it how about we just get it right? I've always known this needed some work.

Cna you also tell me what version you're using.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Arkay.

Good to hear it's working. The file should also play back through other players. Though showtime is a dog. Get rid of it.

If you need a good external to MCE player get a hold of Zoomplayer. It can't be beaten for being THE best media player for windows.

Cheers,
Arkay.
