Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

Hi,
I tried VideoRedo and I noticed I have systematically audio unsynchronized when I edit and/or join dvr-ms files.
dCut is really simpler and works well when you just need to remove commercials from dvr-ms. For me, VideoRedo is only to be used with plain vanilla MPEG2.
Cheers

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

I looked at dcut but it seems to only have a clunky, bad MCE interface? I found it a nightmare to try and do anything with.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

It seems to be a bad interface, but if you want to use it :
* don't try to compress in WMV,use only "edit" feature
* use shortkeys (numbers). I do the edit with only my diNovo keyboard and it is fast.

The program is very simple, and at least, doesn't corrupt the final file (whereas VIdeoRedo do...).

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

Arkay,

Interestingly - ShowAnalyzer has released several updates since the end of last month... most recently 0.5.8 with native DVR-MS support and support to act as a commercial skip-in add in for DVRMSToolbox... http://www.dragonglobal.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114

A new version of DVRMSToolbox is also out (http://www.thegreenbutton.com/commun...ssageID=113435 ) supporting ShowAnalyzer...

I've been watching ShowAnalyzer for a while as a possible solution to the 'commercial' issues... and with these updates it is looking promising...

I'm yet to test it... but it's on the To Do list hopefully for the weekend.

Be interested in your thoughts and whether you have undertaken any of your own testing...

Oh - and great job on the new Crunchie! Makes it all a lot easier for us!

Thanks,

frenzz.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

I tried Dcut and did not like it. I am using DVRedit all the time. Works fast and simple to cut the commerials. If I want to join several dvr-ms files together, I use Videoredo and use the sound synchroniser. This tool synchronises up to a second.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

DVRedit is ok, it outputs to dvr-ms which is good, but it doesnt have an automatic ad finder like video redo.

I thought that it was only possible to cut beggining and end of a file with dvredit ?
How do you cut a commercial in the middle of the file ?

I don't know if it is my original feed (a Terratec T2 dvb-r card), but VideoRedo output is always corrupted or unsynchronised (when joining files).

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

HELP!

I am new to the whole MCE stuff, however I am quite proficient in windows XP and other operating systems... I feel dumb for even asking this but can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?!

i have tested Crunchie in 2 different computers and I cant get it to work on either one (1 WinXP with imported DVRMS files from my other MCE'05 machine)

I am having different problems on each machine which I will try to explain the best that I can, both machines have installed ffdshow + DVRMStoolbox +crunchie, DVRMStoolbox I installed using the 100kb file that is included in the package since all the files are called "setup"

To the best of my knowledge I have configured Crunchie properly, however I seem to have the following problem when running in my XP machine:

Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( STARTUP) C:\Program Files\Arksoft\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Started.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( CLEANUP) Cleaning temporary mpeg folder.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Scanning C:\Documents and Settings\estefano\My Documents\Personal\Media Center Files for files to convert.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Found Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( INCLUSION) Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms included for processing.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Found The Order_MOMAX_06_09_2005_09_23_51.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( INCLUSION) The Order_MOMAX_06_09_2005_09_23_51.dvr-ms included for processing.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( CONVERSION) Processing Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( DVRMS->MPG) Converting Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms to mpeg.

and then it just HANGS THERE and does NOTHING!

on my MCE machine, I encounter this error:

CROPDETECT Error: invalid mpeg file found, skipping c:\xxxxxxx

someone PLS tell me what I am doing wrong!!!

thanks again!
E

How long does it hang there for?

Depending on the specs of the machine, the conversion process can take quite a long period of time... Try setting it off overnight, and see if you get any results by the morning. I ran a convert of an AFL match the other day, and started it at 13:00, and it finished at around 17:00, and that is on a P4 3.0 GHz machine.

Just thought I'd throw this in, as there are no indicators on how long it has to go, it just finishes, when it finishes....

Schlep.

Re: Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

A good check to see if it is doing anything is to hit ctrl-shift-esc and check the performance tab and see if the CPU is crunching something.

On that note, how can I get crunchie/mencode to use more than 50% CPU? All my encoding takes twice as long as it could.
