Arksofts Crunchie Release (v1.1)

It seems to be a bad interface, but if you want to use it :
* don't try to compress in WMV,use only "edit" feature
* use shortkeys (numbers). I do the edit with only my diNovo keyboard and it is fast.
The program is very simple, and at least, doesn't corrupt the final file (whereas VIdeoRedo do...).
Interestingly - ShowAnalyzer has released several updates since the end of last month... most recently 0.5.8 with native DVR-MS support and support to act as a commercial skip-in add in for DVRMSToolbox... http://www.dragonglobal.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114
I tried Dcut and did not like it. I am using DVRedit all the time. Works fast and simple to cut the commerials. If I want to join several dvr-ms files together, I use Videoredo and use the sound synchroniser. This tool synchronises up to a second.

I thought that it was only possible to cut beggining and end of a file with dvredit ?
How do you cut a commercial in the middle of the file ?
I don't know if it is my original feed (a Terratec T2 dvb-r card), but VideoRedo output is always corrupted or unsynchronised (when joining files).
I am new to the whole MCE stuff, however I am quite proficient in windows XP and other operating systems... I feel dumb for even asking this but can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?!
i have tested Crunchie in 2 different computers and I cant get it to work on either one (1 WinXP with imported DVRMS files from my other MCE'05 machine)
I am having different problems on each machine which I will try to explain the best that I can, both machines have installed ffdshow + DVRMStoolbox +crunchie, DVRMStoolbox I installed using the 100kb file that is included in the package since all the files are called "setup"
To the best of my knowledge I have configured Crunchie properly, however I seem to have the following problem when running in my XP machine:
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( STARTUP) C:\Program Files\Arksoft\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Started.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( CLEANUP) Cleaning temporary mpeg folder.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Scanning C:\Documents and Settings\estefano\My Documents\Personal\Media Center Files for files to convert.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Found Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( INCLUSION) Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms included for processing.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( FILE SCAN) Found The Order_MOMAX_06_09_2005_09_23_51.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( INCLUSION) The Order_MOMAX_06_09_2005_09_23_51.dvr-ms included for processing.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( CONVERSION) Processing Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms.
Tue Sep 6 16:32:56 2005 : ( DVRMS->MPG) Converting Blazing Saddles_MAX_06_09_2005_09_21_22.dvr-ms to mpeg.
Depending on the specs of the machine, the conversion process can take quite a long period of time... Try setting it off overnight, and see if you get any results by the morning. I ran a convert of an AFL match the other day, and started it at 13:00, and it finished at around 17:00, and that is on a P4 3.0 GHz machine.
Just thought I'd throw this in, as there are no indicators on how long it has to go, it just finishes, when it finishes....
On that note, how can I get crunchie/mencode to use more than 50% CPU? All my encoding takes twice as long as it could.
If you're using Crunchie, then I assume you're using DVRMSToolbox. Not entirely sure which settings it's using etc... but I know that int he GUI for DVRMSToolbox, you can allocate how much CPU to use...
Good suggestion Schlep, but didn't seem to do anything...the process that is doing the converting at only 50% is mencoder.exe, which is included with crunchie, not DVRMStoolbox, and there's no ini file options that leap out in the crunchie directory. Just to be sure though I also changed the priority in the DVRMStoMPEGGUI.exe settings but that doesn't seem to write them for global use, seems to be just for the session you load. Wonder if it has anything to do with hyperthreading?
That's exactly what it has to do with. Mencoder is not thread awar and as such only gets to use half of the available CPU on a hyperthreaded CPU. If/When mplayer v2 is released this should get resolved.
I have tested it now on 3 different machines... they all stay there any do nothing... 0% CPU util, either way... the files are only 20 and 15 seconds long... so it should not take more than a few minutes on my 2.4ghz machine... I have waitted ALOT longer than that (2 hours) I also tested it on my FX-55 machine and it does the same thing just like my Pentium M 2.0ghz...
