Re: Help with crunchie

Hi,

Looks like you've got a corrupt file. See if you can convert it manually with dvrmstoolbox. Use dvrmstompeggui.exe in the dvrmstoolbox folder.

Cheers,

Rick.

Re: Help with crunchie

Thanks Rick

I tryed running dvrmstoolbox as you suggested and confirmed this is where the problem is.
I must have poor quality TV signal on ch 10. I ran a test with some other recordings, both from 10 and other channels and all so made some new recordings from ch 10 and use dvrmstoolbox to convert with interesting results.

All other Ch's SD worked fine
Ch 10 old and new SD recording converted but would not play, play without audio, play but freeze or pixalate, or it would launch to a black screen and would not play or freeze but you could move the play bar to any where of the vid progesion and get a still image.
Ch10 Old and new HD recordings wont convert at all

I don't have any HD recordings from other channels yet but will be trying this soon

So in general what i said about poor signal is likely and it looks like i need to do some improvements to my antenna set up

if you have any other suggestion Please let me know

Thanks
Nathan

ps. all the files are playable in MCE

Re: Help with crunchie

Hi,

The majority of files I've seen that exhibit this problem are due to corrupted frames in the video because of poor signal strength. If you get a clean signal the problem should clear up. Only other thing to try is something like videoredo. It is generally more tolerant of lesser quality recordings and can fix the stream whilst converting to mpeg. You can then pass that mpeg file onto crunchie.

I'd try and fix your signal first though.

Cheers,

Arkay.

Re: Help with crunchie

Arkay
Videoredo has worked and well. Did it as you said.
The antenna cabling in the house in quite poor. I only bought the house 10 months ago and one on the jobs on the list is to repair the dodgy TV cabling and repair and or remove the very poor Cable TV installs (I do refer to Telstra and Optus and yes it could be reported to the ACA as breaches of the standards but it's not worth the fight). I use to be a licensed installer and I am picky about mine and others installs.
I will stop raving now and get back to it.
I recommend videoredo as a go program.
Thank you Arkay for your time you are a legend

Thanks again
Nathan

Re: Help with crunchie

I couldn't post in the release thread (too old) so I figured this one will do.
Just wanna get it out there if anyone should be interested. No use in all of us doing the same job, right?

Thanks!
I just recently began to run out of diskspace so... Here I find salvation! (Thanks Arkay!)

I've had a few problems with the autocropping myself and just thought I'd write a quick-and-dirty fix (just skips the crop). It ain't pretty but it works for me. If anyone should be interested...

Behold, my batch-file!

(Install: remove the .txt from the filename and run it, preferably from a command prompt, in the directory of the file you wish to convert)

Hehe... There's a reason for that... I was at the bottom end of about 11 Smirnoff Black Ice's when I wrote that reply.

Still.. Nice to have that personal touch

Cheers,

Re: Help with crunchie

Sorry to piggieback, but I'm having an audio problem. My audio is out of phase with the video. Any ideas where to start with fixing this problem?
