Crunchie? what's going on?

Hi Folks,

Over the weekend I did some tests with "crunchie" and it worked really well.

Last night and today I tried it again on a very small file (40.6 mb) and suddenly the avi output file became bigger(42.1mb) then the intput dvr-ms file. What's going on? There are no setting I could have fiddled around with, so I do not know what to do next. Was the file to small to work with?

Can't understand why you'd post that question here when we have arkay's forum dedicated to Crunchie

Re: Crunchie? what's going on?

It's been known to happen. Particularly on small files. It depends on the content of the encode. My guess is it was probably a cartoon?

At any rate I wouldn't worry about it. If you're that tight for space that you need to compress a 40MB file then you have bigger problems to worry about!

On larger files it should generally achieve a good result.

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Crunchie? what's going on?

Was only trying out some things. I will try it again with a larger file.

Thanks Arkay

Wink Re: Crunchie? what's going on?

It was the smile file that caused me the trouble. I tried it again with a larger file of 15 minutes duration and everything was ok. 560 mb was reduced to 360mb and no loss of quality. Can sleep again now!
