Crunchie Help

Not sure what has occurred. I have had Crunchie up and running perfectly. I performed a little computer cleanup, removing some excess not used files. Now for some reason Crunchie does not begin converting mpeg's. I had uninstalled dvrms toolbox , which I do not use anyway. I have ffdshow installed and have reinstalled Crunchie 1.1. I keep checking the configurations but all look OK. I use auto dvr convert for making the mpeg files, then edit the commericial spots out and follow up with Crunchie. All the required programs seem to be present. Not sure where to focus, please if someone may have an idea what would cause this please let me know. Thanks

Re: Crunchie Help

I think this is your problem:

"I had uninstalled dvrms toolbox"

My understanding is Crunchie is an extension of DVR-MA Toolbox.

Re: Crunchie Help

I have the same problem....very frustrating.

I use auto dvr to convert my dvr's as well, and it has worked for me in the past this way. I think it could have something permissions on your folders and drives. My permissions are screwed up, and i cant set them back to the default permissions. Another reason for this could be how auto dvr saves the file. I think Crunchie is case sensitive when it is looking for mpeg's in your source folder. i've tried a lot of ways to put in different wildcards, but nothing happens. This is the log file that i get..

( STARTUP) C:\Program Files\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Started.
( FILE SCAN) Scanning F:\dvr for files to convert.
( FILE SCAN) No source files found to convert.
( FINISHED) C:\Program Files\Arksofts Crunchie\crunchie.exe Completed.

Always the same, no source file found to convert......ahhhhhh!!!!!

Can someone please help!

Re: Crunchie Help

Crunchie is not an extension of DVRMSToolbox. It uses DRMSToolbox to convert dvrms files to mpeg. That however in recent times has proven not so useful as the ac3 audio in Australian recordings got lost in the conversion to mpeg..

At any rate. If you are converting the files to mpeg with some other tool and you can verify that the files are in the folder crunchie uses for conversion then the only thing that can be wrong is the selection criteria.

It is case sensitive.

If you would like to see some more debugging information then start up a command line. Change directory to the crunchie folder and run it from the command line like this:

crunchie.exe -d

Then have a look at the output. It should tell you what it finds in your "to convert" folders.

Post up the logs and I'll take a look.

Cheers,

Arkay.

P.S. Is this on Vista or XP?

Re: Crunchie Help

Hello Arkay,

Very honored to have you look into our issues... i hope that i have what you require, attached jpeg of crunchie.exe -d. I changed around my folder names to be more accurate.... i hate to say this, but, i'm recording on vista and using auto dvr to convert to mpeg (on vista) then transferring the files over to my xp machine (none mce) to convert with crunchie. I was successful converting with crunchie twice, however it's stopped working, doesn’t pick up anything in the source folder. i have defiently placed my converted mpegs into the f:\mpegs to convert folder (as my source)

Thanks again mate, you have developed a very efficient and functional program!

Re: Crunchie Help

Very odd and hard to tell what's going on.

Can you maybe try renaming one of the files to a.mpg then setting your inclusions for . again?

If that doesn't work perhaps move the recordings to a different folder and re-set the crunchie config to point to the new folder. Also right click on the source folder and have a look at the permissions of the folder and the files themselves... Permissions might be the cause.

Are you running crunchie as a user or an admin user?

Cheers,

Arkay.

Re: Crunchie Help

Hey Arkay,

i've done what you have advised, changed source folder to my c drive and renamed converted file to a.mpg, still no luck. I'm an admin user.

i just thought that i would throw in a dvr-ms file and it picks it up with the permissions in place no worries, in the folder is the a.mpg as well.

Thanks for looking into this. If you have any other suggestions, would be great.

Re: Crunchie Help

Sweet!

Can you tell me if it converts anything with AC3 audio properly... I have a feeling the issue may be resolved but I haven't tested it.

Cheers,

Arkay.

Re: Crunchie Help

If you mean anything from channel 10, then no, great picture no audio.

I had been reading a lot of post's around about the issue. I did read a post about someone that had a link to a zip file, and you have to configure the ac3 in ffdshaw. Was this the one that you were talking about? If not i would be interested if you could point me in the right direction.....

I will be making a donation in the next couple of days.

Thanks again.
