Ouch - I knew they were heavy, didnt know they were that heavy - no wonder the ones I had in the US weighed so much - even with so little parts inside.

Re: Rack mount server case

Just picked the case up from Skycomp.... it's heavy

20kg including packaging.

Seems sturdy enough though, I'll be putting it transplanting the guts across tonight, so fingers crossed.

Hi dgaust

Just wondering how you went with the case. I am looking at purchasing two of these cases one for my Linux Server and one of the Windows Home Server I am in the process of building.

Just wondering how many hard drives you could realistically fit in the case. I have a CDROM Drive and 5x SATA Drives that I would like to fit. Also, can you let me know the overall lenght once the cables are connected to the case.

Cheers
Andrew

It's not bad... very heavy though (I'm not sure how heavy comparable products are). I currently have 6x 3.5" drives installed, 4 in the 5.25" bays behind the fan and 2 in 5.25" hot swap drive bays I already had. With the dvd drive installed I still have 5 (maybe 6) x 3.25" bays available.

I would recommend changing the 120mm fan if you're planning on using it anywhere you may frequent. It is very loud, blows a gale though.

I'll let you know the depth, but it's around 60cm with cables.

Re: Rack mount server case

Thanks for that.

The two case are going out into the Workshop so the fans shouldnt worry anyone. Do they come with side mounting rails or did you have to purchase them seperate.

Cheers
Andrew

Re: Rack mount server case

No rails unfortunately, you need to purchase separately.
