Dlink have a 4-bay NAS on the market, called the DNS-343, at approx. $600.
Since I'm in the market for a RAID-5 NAS, has anyone got thoughts on that or others in the same price bracket?

Ive just got a DNS323 2 drive unit today, have it setup with 2 1TB drives.
Seems to be working fine, this unit cost me $279.
Had a read up on NAS unita and this one seemed best price for features.
Already have a Winxp box setup but have it filled with 4 * 500 gig and 1 * 750 gig drives and didn't want to swap them out yet.
Well, for that price tag, you can also try the SS4200-E/EHW Intel box (here), the EHW version being an OS-less version.
It's a full-blown x86 compact 4-drive NAS, with RAID 0+1 or RAID 5 capabilities, and two e-SATA ports, powered by a Celeron M 420, and an upgradeable 512MB memory stick (max. 1GB). When WHS was annouced, this was one of the first cases OEMs took advantage of to annouce their prototypes.
I've never seen this one on sale anywhere except the US, but it seems a great option. Not sure how it will perform on the noise department, but on performance you can't go much better without spending A LOT more.

i have a dns 323 and i've found that it's bullet-proof.
smart interface, neat design, good cooling.
its based on a linux os, so i've found its stability to be very very solid.
there is a little issue when you want to use it with a vista-ultimate but a firmware update fixed the problem, d-link have a pdf about that problem on their website.
I've just bought the DNS 343. It is so compact ! I was pleasantly surprised.
So, I'll keep you posted on the interesting bits ...

I look forward to your views on the server...I am looking at/needing one soon
Don't hesitate (well, except for the co$t)
It was very easy to install the hard drives... a total of 30 seconds !!
Simply power it up (note: it's got a separate power supply; that keeps the nas small) and run the supplied software ... you only need the link to use the web interface of the DNS-343. Format the drives (of course), and off you go!
But transferring 1.5TB of data took a bit of time...
Anyonw want to work this out:
1.5TBytes over a 100Mbps link at ~90% utilisation = ??? time
