I've been looking at the home server idea, and was wondering if:
If it is possible at all to use an old Xbox (not 360) to stream audio/video from my computer. Not live TV but rather just my media collection like videos, music, photos etc etc. Nothing to be stored on the Xbox, just accessing the PC to play files on the console.
Does anyone know anywhere I can read up further about this, or even a program/walkthrough to maybe have a crack at it?
From what I understand XBMC makes your console into a media centre only, you can't play games without installing extra BIOSes etc, I just wanna be able to use the Xbox to access MPEG videos and so I can still play games without extra BIOSes, config stuff etc.
Any easier way? Those sites all go on about XBMC. Can't I just enter an IP address and do it that way or something similar? I've got it hooked up via a crossover cable, XP recognises it and is able to access files from it but vice versa doesn't quite work as easily.
Sorry for being a pain in the arse but that's the way I imagined it.
