ATI X550 - ATI RADEON X550 > GV-RX55256DP - Any good??

Hello all,

I need a silent small (no big pipe) graphics card for my shuttle pc.

I have had it up to me head with the noisy 600GT that i have.

Not really keen on modying my box, card or anything like that. And the HEat pipes dont work in the shuttle cases. Needs to PCI Express.

I am running power DVD 6 for my codecs, and currently use S-video into a CRT, but will be using a Plasma or LCD very soon.

THoughts appreciated on this card, or others.

Thanks heaps.

Adam

I think i like the NVIDIA cards; if not as noisy as this one. Sounds like a jet ;>)

This doesn't appear to have turbocache easy, so might be the goods. Has anyone used it?? Sorry if covered already.....i did do some looking, but everyone suggests mods and firmware changes....not keen on that!

Thanks

Adam

Ahhhh, just found that it looks like a turbocache model....which everyone seems to think i should stay clear of.

Any other options?? The ATIx550 any good people??
Thanks

Adam

you can get a Non-Turbocache 6200 which will be passively cooled...that would do MCE fine...

i think you can get them for around $85-$100...
