I believe that the S16T uses the IR221 receiver from Philips which is the updated version of the Microsoft ehome receiver. The other S series models with the VFD use the IR-Trans solution.

The drivers are up-to-date (there's really nothing to update for the ehome stuff on Vista Ultimate as the OS support the hardware out-of-the-box)
I've tried the IR extenders that come with the chassis to no avail
Oh and I'm also using the Microsoft Remote Keyboard for MCE with identical issues
Sounds familiar...At the moment, I am getting around this issue by disabling the internal ehome receiver (IR221) in device manager and plugging in the standard Microsoft ehome receiver...Not an ideal solution given the expense of the case!...But everything works as it should!!! It's a suitable workaround until FortuneTec or OrigenAE can resolve the remote issues.

Does your touchscreen work properly? Display looks great but the touchscreen functionality in mine does not work properly. I have the latest drivers installed and everything looks good in Device Manager but when you touch the screen, the cursor appears about 1.5cm left and down from where the screen is touched. When I install older drivers, the device is recognised but there is no touchscreen functionality at all.

I have emailed OrigenAE and FortuneTec regarding these issues and have not received a response from either yet. I will email FortuneTec again this morning and see if they have a resolution as these problems do not appear to be isolated and suggest a manufacturing issue.

I will report back any replies.

My touchscreen seems to be OK although I'm not really using it that much since I haven't quite figured out what is the best way to use it... I'm sure I'll come up with something...On that subject, the touch screen gave be a fair amount of grief in the beginning. I'm running a HDMI cable from back of my video card to the LCD TV and at first the dual view just did not want to corporate... Seems OK now that I have 'expanded' my desktop across...

It is rather disappointing that neither FurtuneTec nor Origen have gotten back to you. One would have thought that they really would be on the ball with this.

Re: OrigenAE S16T build... "The new beast!"

avman,

I would not hold my breath wating for origen to get back to you. I seem to remember that when they bought out the X15 or whatever it was, there was a lot of problems with it and even on their own forum the stopped responding to people.

Craig.

Re: OrigenAE S16T build... "The new beast!"

Regarding the touch screen issue I too am experiencing the same problems when interacting, cursor appears to the left 1.5cm and down from the point of contact. Previous drivers / software result in it not being found properly

Unlike others I have received a response from OrigenAE, see below for helpful insights.

Dear Sir, That is very surprising to hear as the hardware and software are the official Microsoft ones (as provided by Philips for Microsoft). Unless the hardware is faulty, it would be very unlikely to be a driver related fault.

Best regards,OrigenAE Support Team

How are you meant to argue with help like that

I'm also experiencing the S3 issues with the case, so have reverted to shutdown and startup as needed.

Re: OrigenAE S16T build... "The new beast!"

Hi all,

I am considering the "V" variant of this case which i believe is shipped with the Irtrans receiver. has anyone experienced issues with the irtrans receiver before?

cheers,
G

Re: OrigenAE S16T build... "The new beast!"

Don't know much about the 'v' variant, however, I've had some promising news from FortuneTec and in-turn Origen...

Apparently the chaps at both FortuneTec (Australian wholesaler) & Origen are aware of the issues associated with the integrated eHome/ir221 receiver in the chassis such as the S16T.

I've been assured that new refined IR units will be available very soon and they will gladly replace the dud ones...

Meanwhile I borrowed an external eHome receiver from my supplier until the internal unit has been replaced.

BTW, the external unit works like a charm...

Re: OrigenAE S16T build... "The new beast!"

Official reply from Origen:

Quote:
Dear Sir,

We are currently looking into the problem with the philips ir module. We are not sure the exact cause as we are using the offical philips/microsoft solution which should have perfect compatability with media center. We hope to find the cause and a solution soon.

Best regards,
OrigenAE Support Team
Here's hoping....

I just had a phone call from FortuneTec confirming the above. They estimate that the new IR221 module should arrive in the next week or so and they will ship me one ASAP...Hopefully this will resolve the IR issues...

...As for the touchscreen issues, FortuneTec told me that they were unaware of any issues regarding the touchscreen. I have just received this reply from OrigenAE:

Quote:
Dear Sir,

We have a small number of users that are experiencing this problem with Vista and we are still investigating the problem as there does not seem to be a common cause.

Best regards,
OrigenAE Support Team
...I will keep you updated.

I had the X15e Series II case with the IR-Trans Module. Worked like a charm...I would recommend this as a tried and tested IR solution.
