MCE Configuration - Abit IL90-MV

Hey guys i am new round here and after some feedback on a MCE i am spec'ing up.

Case: Antec Fusion
Mobo: Abit IL90-MV
CPU: Mobile Conroe (speed undecided will depend on pricing)
Ram: Corsair VS2GBKIT667D2 ( 2 * 1gb 667)
HDD: Dual Samsung HDLJ4001 400gb w/ 16mb cache
Optical: Samsung DVDRW
Card Reader: Generic 11 in 1
Tuner: Hauppage NovaT 500MCE
OS: Windows MCE 2005

This is going to be connected to a samsung 40" F7 Full 1080p panel.

I have been involved with media centre quite a bit through my work. I am a key account manager with Altech Computers (maker of the Maestro Media Centre), however i have only just decided to give it ago my self.

I am looking for some feedback on the Abit IL90-MV board. Its ViiV 945GT chipset with HDMI 1.2 built onto the board, uses mobile processor so low noise and low heat.

Can anyone see any problems or make any further suggestions before i go ahead with this one.

My only real concern would be graphics horsepower. I run a motherboard with geforce 6150 graphics, which performs better than the integrated there, but still struggles with even 720p on vista, let alone 1080p. Was better on MCE2K5, but still not flash. My next upgrade will probably be the new gigabyte 7600gs silent w/hdmi. If noise is real important, a laptop hdd in your media pc and the 2 bigger hard drives in a NAS or server elsewhere may be a better idea.

Pete

Re: MCE Configuration - Abit IL90-MV

its a nice board, we have used 1 or 2 of these with some system builds we have done latey. (bought from you guys at altech our account manager is Josh in perth).

I would personally go for a dedicated graphics card. your IV-7900GS-E3 are so cheap. well worth adding to your build. altho no HDMI.

Aaron.
