I had problems with Blade Runner, then I found the attached guided set up for free EPG and went for it!
All is working well!!
Give it a try, it only took a couple of minutes to configure!
good luck
Ok, i've refined some of the excellent info from Neilwa's thread
here and created step by step instructions on getting a free, working TV guide using FreeEPG and OZTivo:
1. Once you have Vista installed, start Media Centre.
2. Choose "Tasks - Settings"
3. Go through the steps required to scan for your digital channels.
4. Go to "TV & Movies - Live TV", and ensure you can watch the channels you've scanned.
5. Visit
http://www.epgstream.net, use the link to register with them
6. Wait for the confirmation email, then log into
www.epgtream.net and download the "Free EPG Setup 1.0" software. NOTE: You do not need to use the "Click once" or ".NET framework 2.0" links as Vista already has .NET installed as part of the O/S.
7. To prevent Vista from trashing the guide setup (as part of the MCupdate scheduled task), install the "Simuant" software from this link:
http://www.simuants.com/download/ant...ny_1_00_00.zip
7.5 There is some talk that it may be necessary to disable the "mcupdate" scheduled task, which can also trash your guide settings. I have mine disabled, and my guide is working. Reports from others who have not disabled the task seem to suggest they are still losing their guide. So it's up to you. If you want to disable the task, do this (taken from
here):
Click on the Start Button
Search for the Task Scheduler – just type Task Scheduler in the search input box at the bottom and press enter
The Task Scheduler will now be running (after the usual Vista are you sure prompts)
On the left hand side, drill through the selections Task Scheduler Library / Microsoft- / Windows- / Media Center
In the middle panel, you will see the tasks, Right click on MCUpdate and choose Disable
8. Run the EPG Setup program you downloaded from epgstream.net. You will need to enter the name you registered with during the install
9. Once the EPG setup is complete (it's a very short install), restart Windows Media Centre
10. Go into "Tasks - Settings - TV - Guide". Follow the prompts to set up your guide listings. Once you've entered your postcode, VMC should download the guide options from egpstream.net, and display them in a dialog box. Choose your desired guide data (I use FreeTV using OZTivo). VMC should now download the latest guide data.
After much trial and error on my recently built Vista HTPC, this finally has worked for me. It's probably only a matter of time before the guide-hating FreeTV boardroom bully boys in Australia pressure Microsoft to break it again

, so make the most of it while you can....
Cheers,
Juz.
