Bladerunner and HiDT

I've got a question about HiDT that comes with Bladerunner. Just what does it do?

I surmize it reads a text file of show names and then adds the "HD" logo into the guide listing for MCE for those shows. Is that right?

Is there any way to read the HD data from the XMLTV file? First run shows are often in HD and taped repeats of the show are almost always SD here in the US, so simply tagging all shows with the same name as being HD doesnt work too well.
