Bladeruuner NZ: how to setup within MCE?

I am having difficulty using MCE2005 guide with Bladerunner Pro.

I have setup the program as stated by johnrw in his original post: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...w-zealand.html

---------------
c:
cd\windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro
xmltvnz.exe xmltv.xml -days 5 tv1 tv2 tv3 sky_c4 prime sky_maori tri sky_juice
copy xmltv.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
copy Channelinfo.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\QuickGuide
copy GenreShowList.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
copy settings.xml C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
copy xmltv.dtd C:\WINDOWS\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
cd..
---------------

I can generate a successful batch file, I believe (I'm not DOS literate at all); the program runs, then shuts down after grabbing the channels info (with Reven's latest XMLTVNZ version) & the generated *.xml files programme's dates & times seem correct.

OK. I have just installed MCE2005 last weekend. I am sharing my internet connection with my desktop via ICS.

How do I properly setup the guide within MCE to recognise the generated files? Is there an easy-speak guide around the net on how to do this?

I have tried using the manual download option & it won't find my ICS & the automatic download option does not seem to install from the Bladerunner folder.

I had an earlier ghost image where Bladerunner was accessible from within the 'more options' submenu inside MCE but that is not available now & I don't know how I made it visible initially. All assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Bladeruuner NZ: how to setup within MCE?

After going through ALL of the pages of both BladerunnerPro 3.5 stickys I found this on page 12 of the first one:

Quote:
you should be using 0000
I reset the guide up using this zip code & everything ran fine.

This begs the question;
Quote:
according to the BRP instructions
What BRP instructions? & where are they?

I guess I must be the only person recently not able to work this out. But maybe it would work even better if there were some basic instructions for setting up your guide with this code on the first page of the main sticky.

It is just an observation; not in any way to be contrued as a criticism: it is a great program & I go on the list of those thankful for your ability.

I have found a little quirk that isn't immediately apparent, and it might get better over time, but as of this writing, it is still a problem.

I got xmlTVNZ and Bladerunner working today, after trying fruitlessly last night. The cause?

AltTV.

If you include the AltTV flag in the xmltvnz.exe line as above, Bladerunner will fail with an error. Apparently it doesn't like the guide file being supplied by the alttv.co.nz website, or even by the Sky site.

This has been discussed on Reven's forum - search for 'alttv issues'.

Consider this a heads-up to anyone who might get caught.

In all my searching I had forgotten about that thread. It was back when I did not have MCE2005 installed but was using GBPVR in XPPro.

At the time I did not understand the relevance of the 0000 code.

Good link

I, too, had issues with altTV & had to block the channel within MCE to get my guide looking right, but the issues I had were purely to do with typing in the wrong area code (0000 & not 0600 (my postal code)). Thanks for the input.
