Blade Runner Pro 3.5 problem with Vista MCE

I'm currently running my system with Blade Runner Pro + TVXB on Win MCE 2005 perfectly and it manages to download all my EPG data.

I've been testing VISTA MCE recently. TVXB works fine, but Blade Runner Pro 3.5 refused to work. Whenever i click on it , it gives a message saying something that the program can't run and MS will look into it(can't remember exact message, and i've reverted my system to the MCE).

Anyone has such problem with VISTA??

If this can't work, there's no point moving to VISTA for me...even if i like the new UI.

Thanks.

Yep, BRP can be made to work, but using BRPv3 not 3.5.
It's not quite that simple however, you may want to search for the thread where I discuss a working solution.

Re: Blade Runner Pro 3.5 problem with Vista MCE

Yeah hi

I'm having the same problem and I've just posted in the other forum above. I'd like to find out that workaround too, if this is a common problem with BRP 3.5 and Vista.

Cheers

Justin

Re: Blade Runner Pro 3.5 problem with Vista MCE

Hi, I got this problem too... even I install v3 or v3.5 version of BRP, and configurator still can't "save"! got crazy...... When i use TVxb for grabbing the channels, it's look OK, but at last its turn a error message with:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Status: Creating xmltv.xml listings file C:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.xm l...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FATAL: failed to open XML output file: "C:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData\xmltv.x ml"
Permission
FATAL: No downloaded programs written to the XMLTV file
Status: Finished!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone can help??? Thank you.

Re: Blade Runner Pro 3.5 problem with Vista MCE

Finally, I find a cause for this problem, the permission save is blocked by the windows "UAC" function. After I have disable this safety function, it is OK now.
However, anyone had this experience to setting this? Is it not secure when i disable this function? Hope anyone can discuss here......
