BSP2 and GUI updates

Hi,

I own a copy of BSP2, and it's really a wonder portal for flickr.

But... I find myself not using it as much as I should (and always making excuses when I demo it for others) because of one simple problem: the overbearing design of the metadata during slideshow view.

When I demo it for others, people are initially very interested in the app, and then, for this seemingly small detail, become disinterested in the application. It's that big of a deal.

Please, please, please... update BSP2 to allow the user to remove the "slide in" title and metadata strip during slideshow view! And, if we decide to keep the metadata on the screen, it should be redesigned to be much less "in your face." It's too high up on a 16x9 monitor, it's too tall, and too wide.

This is probably the ONLY GUI problem with this otherwise excellent app... but you have to understand that slideshows of the world's best photos are being seriously hindered by this one small (but huge) GUI issue with the application.

It can't be that hard to allow a user to give us an option to hide/show the title strip during slide show (or manual show) mode??? Can it?

This app has been out for 6 months now, and it's time for this critical update.

Thank you so much for the consideration of this feedback. I mean it in the most respectful and hopeful way to make this otherwise fantastic application truly usable and enjoyable.

Thanks,
Jon

Re: BSP2 and GUI updates

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the feedback - and appreciate your frustrations with this request not yet materializing in a new release.

Unfortunately - this request didn't appear during the beta program for Photos 2 (while the product was still being enhanced) - and hence didn't make it into the initial release. (although is top of the list for when a new update is made available). While the actual feature request may seem trivial - any new version of Photos 2 (which changes base code) - requires a significant amount of testing to be performed to ensure nothing else is accidently 'broken'. (and due to their being no major bugs in this product - this has not yet been warranted).

However - a new update of this product (and other Big Screen products) is on the cards to support the upcoming interim version of Vista Media Center - but it's currently unknown when this interim VMC version will be launched (or when a finalized release version will be made available to test with). I understand this new VMC version will be released sooner rather than later - although I'm of course not privy to any exact dates/timeframes (and wouldn't be allowed to share this information if it was available). So please be patient and you will get your wishes...

thanks

Niall Ginsbourg /
