Question Big screen weather and warnings - is it there

A question for any Big Screen Weather experts. I am trialling the software at present to cover off the last Foxtel function we use before I can that waste of $.

SWMBO is reviewing the software and has asked "does it show weather warnings?" and I can't seem to find an answer other than the default of I can't find it so no. Does anyone know if the answer is yes, and if so where / how?

Re: Big screen weather and warnings - is it there

I have also been trialling and I can't find the warnings. I am finding the menu navigation a bit clumsy eg no easy way to get to main menu from sub screens

Hijacking the thread a bit, I can get observations for regional centers in other states but is there a way to get forecasts?

Re: Big screen weather and warnings - is it there

Hi,

Just thought I'd answer a couple of questions in this thread...

DDH : Sorry - warnings are currently not provided in this product - a couple of reasons - mainly because it's not something available for global users (and this product tries to focus on features available to everyone) - but also because the BOM warnings are text based and would need to be edited to be readable/digestible on the big screen.

Krypto : With regards to forecasts vs observation locations - you should be able to see a very similar set of locations for both of these (although note there are slightly less forecast locations supported by bom.gov.au). With both of these - you can drill down to region, national, state and district zoom levels which will allow you to view weather for other locations (by either clicking through on the main observation or forecast - or accessing one of the other functions provided in the pivoting main menu).

Krypto : You should be able to quickly get back to the main menu by using the back button on your remote (and follows the similar forward/back navigation of the main Media Center product). The pivotal main menu is a little different to what you are probably used to - and tries to provide the best layout for global users. The idea is that you see a summary of all different sorts of information on the main menu (and you can pivot between each type of information by pressing right/left) - without having to navigate to submenu's - and then gives you the option to drill down to more detail depending on where you are. You also get to see the primary information (observation + forecast) without any navigation at all.

Anyhow - hope this helps.

cheers

Niall

Niall thanks. No need to be sorry, I appreciate your time to answer and explain. I will convey the result to SWMBO and see where we go from there.
