BSHeadlines not responding to remote?

I have BSWeather installed and working great, and I've tried BSPhotos as well. I've been waiting for Headlines to come out and was excited t install the trial version. Unfortunately I'm having a heck of a time getting it to respond to my remote. It starts up fine, but getting from one screen to the next often requires MANY (like 10-20) presses of the left or right directional button. Up and down works fine, just right and left give me problems. It's bad enough that I wouldn't use the product until this gets fixed. Anyone have any idea what could be causing it or how to fix it?

FYI, I have a custom-built HTPC running Vista Ultimate with SP1. I use IRTrans and a standard MC remote that came with my OrigenAE case.

Thanks!

Eddie

Re: BSHeadlines not responding to remote?

Hi Eddie,

I suspect the issue is directly related to the (non standard) IR Receiver / Driver etc that you are using - and the left/right keycodes not being sent through correctly - as I've only ever heard this issue being raised once before (and was also on a very similar setup). This product has been thouroughly tested with the official Microsoft IR Receiver / Remote control, keyboard, DMA 2100/2200 Extenders and XBox360 (joystick + remote).

It does very much sound like a 'bug' on the side of the driver (or hardware) - as it should either 'work' or 'not work' in a totally consistent manner (not once out of 10-20 times). In this case - the Remote control / driver should be sending through identical key presses to if you pressed left/right arrow keys on your keyboard - as Media Center doesn't actually know the difference between keyboard or remote input (for these left/right actions).

Perhaps a good starting point to resolve this is to confirm you are able to use the product without issue using the keyboard (arrow keys / return / backspace) - and then we can try to see whats going on with the IR drivers you are using (and why they aren't behaving in the same manner as keyboard - as they are supposed to).

Please feel free to email me direct at support____at____bigscreenglobal.com to follow this up further.

thanks

Niall
