Big Screen Weather Error

Hi,

I have been trialing the Big Screen Weather application, and it has been working great for the last week until today.

I launch the application, and select "Current". The screen changes to "Updating Data - downloading latest data", and then after a few moments it comes back with a dialog box saying "Invalid Application - Unable to launch "Big Screen Weather - [] disable this application".

I tried uninstalling the application, and then reinstalling it, but it comes back with the same error message Any suggestions on cause or fixes????

Thanks

Robert

Re: Big Screen Weather Error

Hi,

Not sure whats causing that - other than it's possible the config/data file has been somehow corrupted (ie machine reset while it was being updated etc..?).. I've heard this happen once before - but never heard back from the user so not sure what ended up being the issue.

Would suggest the following 'brute' force solution (to save you figuring out exactly what the issue is) : -

1) Uninstall Big Screen Weather (via Control Panel)
2) Locate and Remove the entire directory at C:\ProgramData\mobilewares.net\BSW (if c: is your Vista drive).

Big Screen Weather will be completely removed/reset at that point (as if you never installed it at all).

From there you should be able to reinstall it - and set it up as before. (and hopefully all will work then).

If it doesn't - there's only a couple of reasons I can think of -
1) There's potentially some security/permission setting error in your ProgramData directory (which is being inherited by the mobilewares sub directories).
2) Something is screwed with the data coming back from BOM (would be location specific as others aren't getting this issue).
3) Something is screwed with Internet Access or Windows Firewall is doing some port blocking?

Let me know if still a problem and I can look further..

cheers

Niall
