I've got the same issue. MC will no longer start after using the reset functionality. Will look into it more tomorrow...

Firstly Nial thanks!
Just installing v0.4.
Should i set the Geo location to the US to get "rich data"? or is this not required anymore?

Many thanks for the app.

PS: Applied the reset worked fine here. Running 7201.
Guide up and working starting the painfull task of setting up the 30 odd shows that i REC per week.
So far so good Nial! No dramas, it all looks nice.

I would strongly suggest that at this stage if you DO NOT have a backup of your media centre that you hold off until those that do have one (Thank heavens for Home Server) try it and sort out any major bugs of which the reset issue seems a bit of a major.

I was back up and running 30 mins after posting.(5 mins of my time rest was the restore running) Niall thinking I will try running the command outside of BSE to see if it then does not stuff MC. If it does then I will try running it again inside of BSE.

Hi

Ok - well sounds like the reset switch stuff is a bit of an issue - but Im pretty sure it's not anything to do with BSE (as I'm simply calling the mcupdate.exe - same as you would from a command prompt). I can potentially just remove this function from v0.4 - so it's not 'part' of BSE UI - but don't think that would make much difference (as it's still really important that users migrating from v0.3 reset their db).

I'd like to find out whether it's definitely reproducable by same users when calling it outside of BSE - and then we can get it logged as a bug (as it's supposed to be a supported public function of Media Center).

So if we can put that issue aside - is everyone happy/bugfree with the rest of the v0.4 release? Anything (else) that needs to be looked at urgently?

Niall

I had an issue similar to that after running an mcupdate reset manually. It would prompt me to setup media after each reboot of the PC, after scanning all the channels etc each time. So it definitely seems the mcupdate reset is very flakey.

re: Big Screen EPG v0.4 - Discussion/Support Thread (Closed)

I did the reset on 2 pc's and didn't have any trouble with it. Is there any chance that the people who had trouble had MC running at the time??

General feedback. All seems good. It only took a minute or two to check out what each of the buttons/tabs did. The only thing that potentially seems to be missing (as previously reported), is the country setting. I still had the keepgeo file so I just ran it and now I get the metadata data for movies.

The installer and Task scheduling are very nice imporvements.

No need to re-install. Just use System Restore...

I've also set up a weekly (mid-week) backup of my system drive using Backup and Restore. If I do manage to totally foobar my Media PC I can just do a full restore...

OK, I've set up the new version and it's a big improvement over the previous. So thanks Niall! :-)

A question; I've assigned logos to all the channels using BSE. When I first fired up MC the guide showed all the channels listed in BSE with a channel logo except ABC HDTV and the various radio channels. I usually just hide the various radio channels but I'd really like ABC HD to have the logo. Have I done something wrong?

Here are some screen grabs if it helps...

The BSE Channels tab:

The MC Guide:

The MC Edit Listing page for ABC HDTV:

EDIT: I found this post from the previous release thread but I'm not sure.

..snip..

The MC Edit Listing page for ABC HDTV:

Hi -

It looks to me like you have EIT listings assigned to ABC HDTV (you can see that the show start/end times are different to that on ABC 1 - ie 'Angelina Sets Sail' ends after same entry on ABC1). This would explain why you don't see a logo.

Did you set the 'ignore' inband option in the BSE UI for all channels? Also you may need to go into the Channel editing (in 7MC) - and remove the EIT listing from that channel (so no epg data is shown for ABCHDTV) - and then go back in and assign the BSE imported listing to it. (when you are scrolling through list of available channels/listings - you will then see x2 listings for ABC HDTV - and the BSE version of that channel will show the logo).

Niall

When you are in the edit listing page, have you tried scrolling down the list to find the ABC HD guide info/logo?

On initial setup, I had to remap a couple of channels.

Edit: Ignore - Niall got in while I was typing.

+1 for the Reset rendering Media Center unloadable, but it also happens manually so isn't a BSE issue. Sysrestore fixes the problem. I've taken to simply deleting the .db file from %programdata%/Microsoft/eHome, not sure whether this achieves as much as is necessary but seems to be doing the trick.
