2) Login to your Account - and go to the 'Big Screen EPG' Tab in the 'my account' section.

CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES
**********************************************
<placeholder>

- users with extremely/insanely large XMLTV Feeds (namely those from Canada and USA) will find the current version to be quite memory hungry and slow. The product will still work - but it will be a little bit painful to use. A new version is currently in development which addresses these issues (and no longer tries to process everything in memory).

In anticipation of the release, I've made available some logo's for inclusion in the guide. They're basically enhanced versions of the ones major available on wikipedia.

All the major broadcasters are included, as well as a couple of the ones that I use specifically for my region (Win, Prime & Southern Cross 10).

You can download the zip that includes the pngs from here

In relation to this 'bug', I am currently seeing this. I've built an app called keepgeo that will keep an eye on the registry key and change it back to US.

It will also change the registry key to US the first time you use it.

You can get it here, just drop it into your startup folder.

edit: Oh, and a usual caveat, all care and no responsibility. I've tested this on two systems and it works exactly as expected. But as with anything, there might be unintended consequences, so use at your own discretion.

You'll manually need to change the registry key to US the first time.

You can get it here, just drop it into your startup folder.

Thanks for these (inc. the logos) - excellent work!

Oh re your caveat : you might need to apply for a 'works on my computer' certification (see this pos ).

Hi Niall,

I'm getting xmltv data by using XMLTV Download (xmltv data is from phazer). I tried using bsetool and it imported all channels (52) without problems (they are listed in channels tab), but when I test MXF generation I get Export complete - 0 shows found. I checked generated epgdata.mxf and there are multiple entries (up to 8) for each channel in <Services> and <Lineups>, but there is nothing in <ScheduleEntries>

This is small part from original xmltv.xml file:

- <channel id="bbc-world.sat">
<display-name>BBC World</display-name>
<url>http://www.bbcworld.com</url>
<icon src="http://tvprofil.net/img/k16/bbc_world.png" />
</channel>
- <programme channel="bbc-world.sat" start="20090206000000" stop="20090206003000">
<title>BBC World News, The latest international news.</title>
<premiere />
</programme>
- <programme channel="bbc-world.sat" start="20090206003000" stop="20090206010000">
<title>HARDtalk</title>
<desc>Stephen Sackur talks to newsmakers, personalities and ordinary people who find themselves in the news.</desc>
<category>vijesti</category>
<premiere />
</programme>
- <programme channel="bbc-world.sat" start="20090206010000" stop="20090206020000">
<title>BBC World News America</title>
<desc>BBC World News America is a comprehensive programme of news and analysis with Matt Frei and Katty Kay.</desc>

</programme>

Do you have any idea what's wrong?
I use same xmltv.xml in Vista Media Center without problems...

Hi -

I can't see anything off the top of my head looking at that xml (other than there is no timezone info on programme start/stop - which i think shouldn't be an issue).

Can you please email me a sample XMLTV file for your region (to email address I sent you the beta invite oin)? If you can also include your importsettings.xml file (located in <x>:\programdata\big screen\Epg) - that would help to rule out it's a configuration problem.

thanks
Niall

Hi Niall,

I am half way there, but have a couple of config problems I was hoping you could help me with. I followed you guid (thanks - very easy to follow), and was able to import the info/logos.

The problem I have is that I am missing logos for 2 channels. ABC1 and TenHD. I re-number these as 1, and 100 respectively. I am guessing this has something to do with the problem. I entering my numbering (1 and 100) in the bsetool manager, and then uploaded the new file, but it didn't seem to help. When I try to edit the chanel and pick from abailable ones, still no logo appearing. Can you think of where I might be going wrong?

Also, for some reason, in the guide I seem to be getting the one channel's guide info on 7, 9 & 10. The weirder part is that right now it is listing ch9's show on all 3, but the next listing is for the abc show, then the one after that is for 7, then 9, 2 etc. I am using oztivo's xlmtv download.

Thanks

Hi - the noshow of logos is most likely due to the bug with the edit listings pages - and I suspect its just showing you your old EIT data (hence no logos too) on those pages for TENHD and ABC1 (which both have the same callsign used accross more than one channel). If this is affecting you - you will probably have to wait for a patch from MS to remedy it 100% (until then you will be stuck with EIT data on just those two channels).

In regards to the other issue you mentioned - can you please email me your xmltv file to look at? It almost sounds like there's possibly some invalid data in there. (but could very well be a bug in processing as well which I need to fix).

thanks
Niall

Hi -

This issue has been located/fixed for this (it was a bug in my handling of the start/stop times which didn't contain a timezone) - and will be released later today (with some other new goodies).

If you want some joy in the meantime - you can manually edit your start/stop times in the xmltv files:

you currently have -
<programme channel="bbc-world.sat" start="20090206003000" stop="20090206010000">

and should be changed to something like (assuming your timezone is +2:00 hrs) -

<programme channel="bbc-world.sat" start="20090206003000 +0200" stop="20090206010000 +0200">

A quick way to change these is to use a text editor with regex/wildcard matching.

I'll email/post when the new version is ready.

Niall

Thumbs up re: Big Screen EPG (0.1 beta) - Discussion/Support thread. (Closed)

Hi Niall
Big thanks on this beta app, am using it with xml data from icetv. Took awhile for me to remember how to grab data using webget but once that was sorted everything worked like a charm.
So nice to see guide full and with info I am used to.
Will now run scheduled tasks for both webget and bsetool.

If you add this as a source in BSE instead of a downloaded XML file

Code:
http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/epg2/iceguide.cgi?op=xmlguide&desc_length=0&user=xxxxx&pass=yyyy
BSE will grab the xml for you. You don't need to schedule WebGet then. Obviously you need to add your username/password combo into the URL.
