re: Big Screen EPG (0.1 beta) - Discussion/Support thread. (Closed)
Woah, 26 pages -- sorry if this has been discussed already. But I'm having a problem where if I select the BSE source for too many channels, the MC Store Update Manager crashes if I try to set too many recordings (I'm not sure on the exact number, of channels OR recordings, haven't had the time/effort to pinpoint exactly what's going on). Moreover, previously scheduled recordings will fail...
I managed to alleviate this problem earlier today by performing a full DB reset (including deleting the db file in %programdata%/microsoft/ehome). But then just now, I noticed SBS One hadn't picked up the BSE data. so I manually assigned it in MCE, went to schedule South Park on Monday night and BAM the Store Update Manager crashed again. I then set SBS One to "show no listings for this channel" and even though inband has definitely been disabled, it's showing inband... but there is no crashing taking place and all other recordings are also working.
I'm quite unsure as to whether this is a BSE issue or not, but I'm GUESSING that since the problem only materialises when using the BSE data that it probably is.
(PS using oztivo with epgstream.net's xmltvdownload).

Right I get loadsa Overlapped Schedules when importing about 15 Foxtel Channels.. This results in patchy guide data - I know all the channels are fully filled by checking out the OzTivo guide data site..
For the moment I'm canning BSE as its not quite there - I know its a beta and Im playing around with enough other betas atm for someone else to assist..
Apart from that its looks good - would love to see it finished - then I can have to choose between BSE and the epgstream solution - whenever that appears..

Hi -
Are you using XMLTV Downloader (or similar) to create a single XMLTV File? That should be resolving all your overlapping XMLTV programmes before the data gets read by BSE. If you are getting overlapping data generated by the xmltv downloader app - I'd contact the author and report it as an issue.
Also - note that you can't just point at the raw channel/day xmltv files on OzTivo site as that will have a lot of overlapping or missing data (programmes screening during midnight will be duplicated in 2 x days files for example, and unmerged HDTV listings will not include all the programmes that are simulcast in SD). So if you are doing this - that would explain your issues.
BSE will then attempt to resolve any remaining overlapping schedule data once a valid/merged xmltv file has been created. (as you can't import any overlapping programmes into Media Center).

I am just in the process of setting up my signal again (due to dropped channels), and was wondering how far away v.4 is from being ready. I need to do this on 3 PCs and if it is likely to be ready in the next 2 or 3 days, I will wait for it and just use over the air data in the mean time. But if it is say a week away, I will load v3.
Thanks

v0.4 (Alpha Release) is a few hours away (fingers crossed - just doing some final testing now)...
I'll post here as soon as it's ready to go.

Ok - it's arrived....
Big Screen EPG v0.4a (Alpha) is now available for download.
(via your account on bigscreenglobal.com).
Please look underneath the download for v0.3 to get the v0.4a release (I'm keeping this previous release active for the time being). Don't forget to grab your Big Screen EPG Serial Number Number (Available on this page) - as you'll need to activate v0.4 with it.
Note that the expiry date is now controlled completely via your Serial Number (and bigscreenglobal.com site) - and will be set to September 1st, 2009 when you activate it. Similarly to how the registration works on the other big screen products - I'll be able to extend your expiry date via my site (and then you can 'reverify' your registration without having to re-install anything).
If you're migrating from v0.3 - I'd highly recommend a Media Center DB Reset (otherwise you will carry forward the series bug in v0.3). There's now a Wizard in v0.4 to do this reset for you.
I'd appreciate those who are brave enough to give it a spin - and confirm there's no showstopper bugs in it. (there's a huge amount of new functions/code so there's a possibly I screwed up somewhere). As I'm out of town for second half of this month - and v0.3 is expiring on July 1 - it's important everything gets sorted out with v0.4 in next 1.5 weeks. I'll release a v0.4b/c interim releases if needed over next few days.
I'll post some more info on v0.4 shortly - and possibly it's time to open up a brand new thread for v0.4 (as this one has grown too large to be useful).
Enjoy ...
Niall

For those people using a scraper program to build your XMLTV file from various online listings, what is the software you are using. I have been using TvXB in Hong Kong, but I wanted to see what others were using. Thanks.
