Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case

fusion-intro.jpgAny discussion about which case to buy for your Media Centre usually gets around to Antec eventually, and one of Antec's more popular HTPC cases is the Fusion Black. The guys at auspcmarket passed one my way for evaluation and I must say I was impressed.
First off, this is an attractive case. Styling is important in a HTPC case, as it usually has to sit in the living room and not look out of place. The Fusion Black presents like a piece of AV equipment, not a PC, so blends nic...

Re: Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case

I agree with the exception of LCD screen and remote.
I purchased one in September and have been using for a couple of months.

I prefer to have the screen off as it is distracting and I cannot make it dim enough for my liking.
I have now disconnected screen as I have been unable to make it stay off when the machine wakes from sleep. Unfortunately this means the volume knob no longer works.

I found the inbuilt remote works with the standard MS remote except for PC power/sleep button. As I have disconnect screen I am now using standard MS remote receiver and power/sleep button works fine.

Great case for the price. I am happy to leave my LCD screen off as I like the HTPC to disappear into the blackness!

Re: Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case

One little trick to get the front IR receiver to work with the power/sleep button on your remote... you have to plug the power switch cable into the display, then there is a separate pwr switch/ground cable which leaves the vfd and goes into the MB. The manual does not explain this and plugging in the vfd does not give you power on/off ability like it would with an external IR.

At least it is this way with the veris silver. I was having to use an external IR till I learned how to get the inbuilt IR to do this as well.
