iMon Ultra Bay Display with IR Remote

intro2.jpgWhen I built my first HTPC a few years back, I bought a case with a VFD built in. I thought this would be a useful feature with its included IR receiver and ability to display a variety of information. When, a year or so later, I decided to upgrade the case, I dispensed with the VFD option. I had found it not as useful as I thought it would be. Principle amongst its shortcomings was the size of the display. It was just too small to read across the lounge room. It was also too bright in a darkened room, its ...

Re: iMon Ultra Bay Display with IR Remote - is this unit rubbsh?

I recently purchased a Silverstone LC16M with the inbuilt iMon display, (and I'm tempetd to call it iMoan) Frankly the thing has been a major disappointment from day 1. Eagerly awaiting the LC16's arrival so that I could build my new gen MCE rig with Intel P35 mobi, Q6600 cpu, 2 gb DDR ram, and 750gb of storage to have the whole thing looking less than perfect was to say the least, a bummer.

Basically on firing up the system for the 1st time, the Imon worked Ok but after some hours I noticed the display showing garbage and the IR receiver not working. Power cycled the system, no change. Installed new version of S/W from Soundgraph, no change. Uninstall S/W , power down for 10 mins and re-installed S/W, all good again for a couple of hours then the same prob. Have tried all the available S/W versions including the beta but still the same problem. Have done this 4 times now. Reverted to MCE IR receiver until I can get this sorted.

So is the problem that I have got a faulty unit or is the Imon product just not reliable? I have seem a few other posts here and on other forums that suggest there is something inherently at issue with the Imon product. The real bummer is that if I am to return the LC16 to Altech I need to disassemble the whole rig...arrrrrghhhh
