Oh well only about 20 days anyways
well thats fine and dandy for m$, but what about all the people tearing their hair out not knowing what was going wrong with their MCE, and spending coutless hours trying to get it to work, probably with their partners on their back about how much time they've wasted on the damn thing and noting how many better things they could have been doing.

its not alot someone giving someone else a free car, something like a 1970's honda civic or something. you think, hey it might be unreliable, but hey its not a bad score. until you find out the guy didnt tell you that the brakes dont work and you end up in hospital after the first hill.

its becoming an absolutely major gripe for me how big companies and organisations can waste peoples time when its their fault and have no care in the world about it. if i get billed incorrectly from my telco, then i have to waste hours getting through to the the right call center, and escalating to the appropriate manager, and making all sorts of complaints, just to get my bill fixed - what do i get - my bill fixed and nothing else. what about the fact that i came home at 6pm in a good mood and its then 9pm and i feel like i could strangle someone, and probably act out on family and friends in a bad way as a result. who pays for that cycle of sh!t.

sorry for being off topic, but i really really really am steaming angry about m$ not being upfront about certain parts of the OS expiring early, then to make it even worse having error messages that are thousands of miles from accurate just to confuse you even more.

Re: Strange error

Re the post above.

I agree absolutely.

Don't care that it has expired. I care that i wasted hours trying to get things working (when a simple disclosure would have cured everything).

Shame on you Mircosoft.

Re: Strange error

Exactly right, Bob. It's bad that they include it when it expires and don't tell anyone. At least NVIDIA and CyberLink say it is a trial. With an OS you expect it to be there.

And if you don't have a guide, who cares? Put it back to 2004!

I am getting the same decoder message in Vista, but also in MCE 2005! Managed to get video working again but no sound for Live TV on HD channels.
Any chance that Vista could have messed with MCE 2005??
I'd doubt it'd mess with it. But that is weird.
