That was a joke, no? Anyway... yes - I can play every game that I own on Vista, from "Battlefield 1942" to the "Battle for Middle Earth 2", they all play as well as they did on XP, and in some cases, better on Vista.

Re: How much RAM are you running on Vista

@pantonius - You're talking about the Games For Windows program. This means that they are tested to work on Vista x32 and x64 (as well as XP).

Great idea really, seeing this logo means I know it'll work with my Windows Vista x64.

Re: How much RAM are you running on Vista

yes...that was what we were talking about, right???

i never said they were EXCLUSIVELY for Vista...

you think they made the games, and were just lucky that it worked under Vista so they stuck the logo on there???

How about "savage"? That fails with a "requires OpenGL 1.2" message box.

I have 1GB with Vista Home premium and have no problems. I do have a 256MB Readyboost disk (it was $10 all right :-))

Re: How much RAM are you running on Vista

Croc and bella ,
Gentleman, you will never agree anyway, so what's the point of arguing?

I think that we need to ask Mike to create a special forum called Arena where we could argue our differences

Back to the topic:
I am using 1 GB of RAM, but have mentioned that HDD is used more than on 2005, so will get another 1GB today

MS Exchange Server (SQL too?) does this (at least 5.5 did). It supposedly says, "I'll hang on to the RAM & pass it out when it's needed." Problem is (well, was) that it just wouldn't release it & you'd be using the pagefile despite the massive amount of RAM in the server. In Exchange 5.5, a reg hack was found to limit it & it worked so much better. Without the hack, the server would be so unresponsive.

One thing I use in old low end machines with XP on them is RAM Idle. You can get a significant boost in machines with a lowish amount of RAM (usually something like 256 or 384MB).

I wonder if anyone's tried something like RAM Idle in Vista?

Justin

Is that like toys for guns? You hand in your copy of Windows & get a free game?
