hey guys,
well i just put the latest vista on and install went well n what not... only problem is my 2x leadtek DTV1000T cards arent getting installed. ive tried every driver and windows will either install the wrong one at startup or says "windows has found the drivers however an error occured". the weird thing is theres only 4 listed items for the cards... (2 for each tuner) when in XP there was 4 for each card. atm they say "dtv capture card" (something like that) and then "winfast dummy something" (i cant read my tv cause ever since the install its all unreadable) the other thing is my netgear WGT111T (usb) wireless network adapter wont install either but thats another prob for another day... my main concern is the tv turners... has anyone gotten these to work? if so which drivers, and how did you install them...
cheers,
josh
*sigh* still no go... tried the disc drivers and it went kaput... now its saying theres 3 of "winfast DTV1000T" luckily i kept xp on another hdd so ill have a play with it every now... the new mce looks good aswell
Firstly, I have the same USB wireless adaptor and the XP drivers work. Just download them from the Netgear site and install as usual. I think I got an error but it worked anyway (but I've gone back to XP because of the following)...
I have a similar problem with my 2xdtv1000t cards. Vista won't detect them at all. If I try to install the drivers manually I get a blue screen error when installing one of the 4 drivers (this is the case for all versions of Vista including RTM)
Now here is the tricky bit.
They worked perfectly with XP drivers on my old motherboard in Vista.
My friend has the same two tuners and the same processor as me (Pentium D 800 I think) and his dtv1000t tuners work fine with Vista. I've upgraded my motherboard BIOS and drivers but the tuners will not work at all in Vista for me.
So I think it is a motherboard problem. We might have to wait for new motherboard BIOS or something. Or buy a new motherboard.
I'm using an Asus P5vdc-mx (from memory I think that's what it is called) motherboard.
The frustrating thing is that I upgraded all the hardware specifically because Vista was sluggish on the old setup.
hey greedo...
i think i tried the XP drivers... but will try again (for the usb wireless)
what sort of mobo do u have? i have an ASUS A8N-VM CSM ... quite bad cause it only has 2 PCI slots (for tv tuners but anywho) ... ive tried all drivers possible but it just wont install without the "driver installed however cannot load *bull $#!^*... the driver" which is really lame caus vista MCE looks awesome... but yeah... would really like a solution from leadtek as the final release has been out for about a week and yet all the major companies haven't come up with working drivers!!! very frustrating..., anyone who has any ideas about drivers for the leadtek/winfast DTV 1000T on windows vista please comment as i have vista running on my non MCE and is much better than XP so please post your comments, cheers,
Josh
My motherboard is an ASUS P5VDC-MX. It too has only 2 PCI slots - both for tuners in my case.
The wireless USB thing definitely works, but I can't remember how...I'm pretty sure you just need to install the XP drivers from the website (I don't think the ones on the CD work).
I'm sure ASUS will update the BIOS or drivers...but I want to use Vista NOW! It is so much better than XP MCE...
hey greedo,
yeah looks like there is some problems there... my asus a8n-vm csm may need bios update but the asus website says the latest one is for win xp, win xp 64bit, but i have no idea what version im running... so ill give it a shot but otherwise just have to wait till they bring out proper drivers.... for everything!!!!
cheers,
josh
I have 2x DTV1000T and it worked fine for me. However, that may be because I have a rev1 card and a rev2. In windows XP the drivers had slightly different names when installing (one set of drivers name had a space between DTV1000 and T and the other drivers didn't). However, despite the difference in revision of the hardware, when I installed vista (which only worked when I added a second DTV1000T), I used the rev2 install disc to install the drivers for both cards.
Some sections of the drivers installed, some parts were still listed as unknown, then some more would install, then some more would install until they were all done. Basically, whenever a window popped up detecting new hardware, i'd go through the wizard and it would get the drivers from the CD until it was all complete.
They both work flawlessly and I had no problems after that. I would be curious to know if you have different hardware revisions or if they're identical. That could have something to do with it. Other than that, I'm not quite sure... I'm using build RC2 build 5744 by the way.
hey danthrax,
thanks for the info, im gonna have another look at it soon as i really wana get it working... my dtv's came in different boxes one was smaller one was larger so i think they may be different rev's. (also the boxes stated that 1 did something extra even they are the same card.) ill have a look on the cards to check, but yeah, i'll definitly have a go using both cd's... the only problem im getting is that vista sometimes asks me to install a driver for a card and i'll go through the wizard for the first driver... then when it says it failed it auto installs vista drivers for the rest... and on that note still only 4 drivers are appearing instead of 8... i may have to switch them around see if that does anything but its very frustrating...
cheers,
josh
