I dont know if this is a Channel 9 Sydney issue or a Vista RC1 issue or what but..
Last night I noticed that the sound on NineSD whilst watching Temptation (Sale of the Century) was stuttering. Strangely enough when I switched to HD, it was fine.
The other weird thing was that my amp showed up as receiving dolby digital on NineSD and as receiving stereo on NineHD?!?
This morning, Vista could not even receive channel 9 at all. Neither SD or HD, and not even for a second, I just got the blue screen saying something about how i should check my reception etc or the channel could be off the air..
I do realise that my reception is not perfect, and that could be the reason, but it could be vista or even channel 9 causing the problem.
Anyone had similar experiences - and/or perhaps have any suggestions?
I've got the same issue. I installed a clean Vista RC2 and it found all the channels but for some reason Channel 9 SD and HD show the no reception message. Had no problems in MCE 2005 with this. Did Channel 9 change their transmission freq. over the weekend?
Fortunately I can get all the southern channels as a backup. Using WIN for now.
Only other issue could be that it cannot decode CH9's audio stream correctly so does not even attempt to decode the video.

Anyone else with this problem?
So did this just happen over the weekend for you too? I was running XP MCE last week, and everything seemed fine. Since I installed Vista on Sat, i've been watching mainly Nine HD (well when watching nine anyway) and the sound was fine. Only noticed that things werent as they should be when watching Sale of the Centurty last night, then this morning couldnt get anything at all.
Didnt have time to do a re-scan but will prolly try that if i still cant get Channel 9 when i get home. If i still cant even tune in to HD (which as i say was working ok until this morning) then thats a real worry..
I did a full system hardware upgrade over the weekend starting Friday night. Installed XP MCE 2005 on Sat. Got that all working as it should with CH9 working. Next night I loaded Vista RC2 on a different drive so I can boot to either OS and after the channel scan the only channels I could not view were CH9 SD and HD. I was hoping the Purevideo driver would fix this but it made no difference.
I'll boot into XP tonight and check to see if CH9 is still ok. If not then something has changed with their signal strength / encoding.
I have the same issue. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. It is mainly on the weekend and during the evening. This is an issue like 7HD has - it works fine all day, but when the Melbourne Cup or something is on HD does not work, or certain shows/sports.
It is the way that their digital transmission is set up, because it is very unsmooth if you watch for a while. But HD is fine, just SD that sucks. I just tested it and 9 is working fine on two digital boxes.
When it happens I test all the other channels. All ABCs fine, Seven is perfect, Nine is hopeless (being one of the better ones before) and Ten is the best now! How that happened....I got no idea.
When i got home last night it still showed no signal from channel 9 and nineHD. A reset of the PC and a rescan of the channels got it working again (luckily). Last night, HD was having audio glitches and SD was fine (the opposite of Monday night). What was the same was the again, SD was showing as Dolby Digital and HD was showing as Stereo.
I had a quick look this morning and 9 and 9HD were still there and working at least. only had a 10 second check, so cant comment on whether there were audio glitches or not on either.
I dont get it at all - i guess i'll see how it goes over the next week or two and see what the trend is. I still dont really know whether its vista or channel 9. I'll have a decent try with DNTV live tonight and compare.
