Vista pricing for Australia

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere... this article announces Australian pricing... I'm seeing Windows Ultimate slipping out of my grasp...

I was wondering that myself. It will need to be a lot lower than retail as with the cost of computers being so low now the most expensive component will be the OS
$450+ seems excessive for an operating system, even $385 is over the top. No wonder folks are givig Linux serious thought. Windows is becoming a luxury item. It's this sort of pricing that makes piracy look attractive to so many people whereas if it were say $150 I imagine a lot more people would pay for it. Guess I'd better start saving now.

Re: Vista pricing for Australia

"Microsoft has put the cost of the Ultimate version at $751 per licence."

WTF.

Re: Vista pricing for Australia

Is MS for real! The weight of a DVD is aprox. 18grams, so at the current gold price per ounce the same weight in gold as a Vista DVD is $492.00!

So that means MS want to charge us more for Vista than the weight of the DVD in gold!

18grams of gold will get you laid more times than an OS thats probably already overdue for a service pack on release date!
