Vista RC1 With 360 Extender

I have a real working Vista RC1 and am using my 360 as an extender...Does anyone know if it is possable to use the 360 to brows the net???
The other issue is how do I point the "Music" folder to a network drive on the vista box from the 360?

I have only had it all running for a day and have not had a good play at this point, but any help would be good

As of today the extender functionality is limited, but will be enhanced. The updates to the Xbox 360 are in the mid fall, but there have been none announcements regarding what new Vista support.

The next bigger update is in the spring.

The Xbox 360 can only make use of what the Vista machine already has been able to set up. But I'm not sure what the DRM will **** up yet.

Re: Vista RC1 With 360 Extender

How are you finding your Vista Xbox360 extender experience after a few days? What is working well and what doesn't work?

Does the Vista MediaCenter interface display okay on the Xbox360?

Any glitches in ordinary usage (especially TV watching and recording).

I would quite like to install RC1 but my family uses the Xbox360 as our primary TV interface and so there will be BIG complaints if I install RC1 and it doesn't work properly on the extender!

I'm also using Vista RC1 using a Xbox360 as an extender over a wired network. For me Live and recorded tv work flawlessly as well as viewing my digital photos and listening to my music collection.

As I only just finished building my rig and it is my first I've gone straight to Vista and dare say won't bother getting MCE2005, so I have nothing to compare vista to but so far I am impressed.

It's great. Everything works. Actuallay I find this Vista RC1 more solid than the MCE 2005

I have a big screen TV (1366x768) and my 360 connected to it. The picture showing the extended MCE is neat.

Re: Vista RC1 With 360 Extender

Not to bad. No real bugs but limited in what it can do. I am going to wait to see what is released to production befor I make my mind up.
The ability to watch DVD from file with out all the stuffing around would be nice. I have managed to use Shrink DVD to create 1 VOB file and watch that on the Plasma via the 360 but things like DVD JukeBox dont like Vista at this point, could have a go at hacking it in I guess. Vista is stable, running it on a P4 2.8, no TV as I am just building a new box that will handle the dual tuners.
I have not realy had the chance to play, as soon as I have the new box running I will play and ley you know

Re: Vista RC1 With 360 Extender

Running Vista RC1 to 42" plasma/Xbox 360 combo, runs very good.

Only problems....

No EPG in NewZealand, and sometimes the sound cuts out for 2-3sec and comes back...... could be anything on either end really.

Overall its pretty cool, if it had EPG it would be awesome.
