Re: is there anyway to update the tv guide in mce for daylight saving time

Mike I'm struggling a bit here to understand what you're saying but If I read you right the EPG in MCE has times which are one hour out since DLS started. I would have thought that if your machine is set to use DLS then BRP should just be picking up times from the scraped site although I suppose it's possible that the underlying systems use UTC references and don't pick up regional DLS settings. If that's the case I wouldn't mind betting there's a configuration file which houses the UTC time difference that can be adjusted. I haven't noticed this yet since I haven't used the EPG since Saturday but I'll have a look tonight.

Cool Re: is there anyway to update the tv guide in mce for daylight saving time

hi philzgr8
thanks for your reply i understand what you mean and i would of thought that also with what you have explained to me so i checked my mce tv guide and here is a example in what i am talking about so you can understand more
this is the lisitng for channel 8 adelaide today
6am today show
9am mornig with kerri anne
11am news
12pm dr phil
with my epg tv guide its reading like this
7am today show
10am mornings with kerri anne
12pm nionational nine morning news
1pm dr phil
so that has thrown me a little bit because the tv guide and my tv guide lisiting is reading different so it makes it difficult for me if i wanted to record a tv show with mce
and i really dont know how to rectify that in anyway for daylight savings time so any help you can give me would be a real great help to me hope that information helps you out more philzgr8
cheers for now mike 21

Re: is there anyway to update the tv guide in mce for daylight saving time

mike21,
Firstly, I'm assuming that SA changed over to DLS at the weekend just as Victoria did.
That being the case, can you confirm for me that the time on your PC has been updated for daylight savings? If not you may need to go to the regional settings applet of the control panel and ensure that the zone is set to your correct timezone and that the option to automatically update DLS is enabled. If not, and I'm going to be very vague here because I don't have access to my HTPC at the moment, I would look in the c:\windows\ehome folder (I think) and find the bladerunner folder and search there for anything that looks like a configuration file. I think BRP uses something like quickguide or something and I would start looking there to see if there's a setting for UTC offset or DLS or something similar and check that the offset and zone etc are correct.

On the other hand I'm hoping that someone more familiar with BRP will jump in here and help out since there's a fair bit of guesswork on my part with this.

hi philzgr8
you are so right the simplest little things we overlook when we want to do something and it takes the advice of other people to help us to see it was so simple that we didnt think of that ourselves at the time of someone posting the message in here its always the simplest things that we dont think of at the time of wanting to do something

Yep. Anyway sometimes I find that responses that don't actually point at the solution are none the less very useful in that they help to eliminate variables and often trigger thoughts about other possibilities. Anyway, good to hear it's resolved.
Cheers,

Phil

MORAL of the story - USE SEARCH !!!!!

Had anyone done a search on daylight savings - it would have found 4 threads... Each of those threads had a link to the post with instructions on what to do....

Of course, we all know what to do come early next year though !!!
