Re: recommend me an external 3.5" HDD enclosure
I have the Vantec NexStar 3 series of external cases, easily the best looking, and they are very reliable, I recommend them highly.

From what I know of all 3.5 USB HDD, there are no host powered models, and none of them spin down the drive.
