Dirt Cheap Real Xbox 360 games Trick

Ok so I tried this out the other day and it worked a treat so I wanted to pass it on to my feloow MCE'rs:

JB-Hifi recently (this year) entered the 2nd hand console game market. If you believe rumours they are a little dodgy but only in regards to being anti competitive with competitors, no skin off our noses.

So Jb-hifi have awesome deals on 360 (and PS3) selected new release designed to get a massive library of 2nd hand games. You can pick up each of the following by simply trading in 3 xbox 360's games

- Assasins Creed
- Simpsons Game
- Call of duty 4
- Mass Effect
- Kane and Lynch Dead Men
- PES 2008
- Orange Box

So what you think? 3 games is still steep. Not when you take in to account these 3 factors. Many Harvery Norman stores are clearing out xbox 360 games such as the games from EA from 06 and Other launch or first year titles really cheaply ($15 for madden 06, Tiger 06, Ridge Racer etc). Secondly EB have a buy 2 get the third (equal value or less) free and thirdly you can still buy 3 games from JB hifi for less than $75 then walk up to counter and trade in for Assasins Creed ($119.95) as a worst case scenario.

The games JB wont accept as part of trade in are:

DOA4, PGR3, Prey, Table Tennis, Final Fantasy, Gun

But EB will deal Match. Ring around first because not all will but most will as they can't loose this to JB.

Below is what I did.

EB:

Perfect Dark - $24.95
Quake 4 - $24.95
Prey - Free wiuth 2 for 1 deal.

Now JB won't accept prey but I checked with that EB and he would match with that game so so far so good.

Harvery Norman

Tiger Woods 06 - $15
Madden 06 - $15
Ridge Racer - $15

So I then went to JB and combined the EB and HN games (felt too dodgy and a couple of EB's I rang, would not Deal match only price match). Gave JB Quake 4, Perfect dark and Tiger and they confirmed ok and I have preordered there Assasins Creed and then took Ridge racer, Madden and Prey to EB, traded in and got COD 4.

Total Spend - $90
Games bought 6.

Total Value of games traded towards - $220.

Trade value of each as part of deal - $36.6666
Average cost of each game - $15

Heading out again to snap up remaining games of HN and get myself mass effect as well.

Some people have gone as far as to utilise EB's 7 day return policy to get dollar value on new games: eg COD 4 + Assasins creed = $220 or 1/3 a new PS3. Not me thats tooo dodgy

Good luck and happy hunting.

Yeah what dgaust said...

Plus I can't be assed, I just go out and buy what I want.

Plus where I live It would cost me the difference in Petrol and Lunch and a wasted day driving from HN to EB to JB ASAP just to get home STAT to play COD2

ha. I only did both as I felt too dodgy. If you got an EB (an a JB to price match) Eb will do it all

Re: Dirt Cheap Real Xbox 360 games Trick

i did something like this a while back with the cheap HN games,

but i've used all of those up now, may have to grab some more...

my local EB (always final port of call for me due to 7 day return clause) has started getting really snotty with price and deal matching. ie they wont match with DSE because its in a different complex (~across the road), and etc etc.

i've also had a couple of instances where i've gone to trade, and the titles have recently been added to their exclusion list... i love a pimply faced little schitt telling me they wont accept my trade-ins that i'm carrying, and having to take them back out with me after paying my full price for a game.

its easier to just pony up.

edit: just called my JB&EB stores.
-JB aren't doing trades on the Assassins Creed game
-EB are doing 4x X360 games= Assassins Creed, but now the only restriction is the titles can't be duplicates, but old stuff is cool.

now I just need to go for a wander to HN, and check in the user games bins in JB & EB & Game (does anyone shop at Game...? I have never seen them priced cheaper, or offering better deals than any of the other options...)

Re: Dirt Cheap Real Xbox 360 games Trick

no it aint, ring find out exlcusion list, go get 2 for 1's from eb and go to JB.

I got Mass effect, Assains Creed, Call of Duty 4 all for 129.95 even at $79 each thats a saving of $110 and if you return to EB for credit then youi got half a PS3.
