For those with a 360

Firstly note my Rep points!! gotta be a sign right?

Now to my question. Do I need a good vid card in the comp if I am extending to the 360 or does the 360 do all the work?

Cheers

Are you trying to goad me into giving you more points

IIRC the Xbox like other extenders does all of the decoding work, so the graphics card shouldn't matter (or really be needed at all on the MCE end). Since MCE can support up to 5 extenders it can't be using the GPU to feed that many displays.

Re: For those with a 360

Ah good deduction my good man. That means I get my AMD gaming system back and can put my p4 HT 2.66 in the cupboard.

Akuma jsut a quick question as someone got me a little worried about this.

Can you still stream all your Mp3's across from the MCE machine? I know cd's and DVD's can't but can Mp3's?

Yup, works just like the MCE music interface. You can also listen to streamed music within the 360's Media blade from any XP machine as long as it has Windows Media Connect installed.

I haven't tried out in game streaming yet, but apparently streaming during a game works just like local playback. Just pull up the guide menu and select an album/playlist and go, by all accounts work flawlessly

Is this right - you cant stream dvd's? why not? is it dependent on wether its a wireless or ethernet connection?

Re: For those with a 360

You can ri the dvd (illegal) to hardrive and stream Mpeg-2 to xbox but you loose menus and it isn't 100% foolproof and you would have to remove all other audio stream other thatn the main movie in your preferred language
