I've been waiting for MS to allow the Xbox360 to output 1080i @ 50Hz for a long time now so I was thrilled when it seemed that they had finally sorted things with the Vista 950125 patch. My problem has been that I have a Panasonic CRT TV TX76-200A which has a great 1080i display but ONLY at 50Hz (The Australian standard). Anyway after a bit of messing around upgrading to Vista Ultimate etc I got the Xbox to send the TV a 1080i signal @50Hz. The TV picture is wonderful, menus are less than wonderful but I could live with that. What I can't live with is the fact that the Xbox360 blade interface STILL can't do 1080i @50Hz so either I have HD TV and no games etc or SD TV and games etc. What a load of C***! It's the sort of nonsense MS did with Divx functionality which works in the blade interface but not in the MC interface and MPEGs that work in MC interface but not the blade

. Why the hell can't they just do it right??
The end result is that I'll need to get a new Tv at some stage and dump the Pana which is a pity as it was very expensive (near worthless now) and gives a better picture then any LCD I've seen. To that end Dick Smith have some great deals on at the moment till 4th August (Perth not sure about rest of Aus).
Sony 32" 1080p TV $1995, sounds a lot but you do get a PS3 (~$600) thrown in as well as a TomTom One XL GPS (~$375) and a Belkin surge pack (~$100) which makes it very good value indeed, not to mention the 2-3 years interest free on offer. Tempting
Dickies are giving the Belkin Surge Pack with ANY TV and ANY TV over $1399 gets the Tom Tom One XL as well. Of course only Sony Full HD's get the PS3.
