"Microsoft said it will reimburse customers who have already paid for repairs for the hardware problem that is indicated by the three flashing lights."
Not sure hat the implications are for those who have already shelled out for repairs outside the standard 1 year warranty, but thought this might be of interest for some.
Oh Sweet!!! I've not had any problems with my Xbox360, but with all the stories of failed Xbox360's out there and my reputation with bad luck I figured my unit would fail any moment now. *Waiting for the sky to fall, since it SEEMS lucky to have the warranty extended*
Thank you Microsoft! Curse you Microsoft!!
Remember guys this Free extended waranty only covers you for 3 Red Lights error, nothing else, so if your drive fails, etc you will still need to pay for the repair if its out of waranty.
Have you had it confirmed as extending to Aus, Supa? If they pull the usual, I don't think it would take much consumer affairs pressure for them to roll over. The problems are well documented & have been acknowledged OS, so they won't have a leg to stand on.
I'm not fussed about the hard drive not being covered - I can replace that cheaply myself. And I only use it as an extender, so it's not an issue. 3 years warranty for the equivalent of a set top box or DVD player is pretty good going.

That's ok for people that only use these units as extenders and nothing but (waste of money if you ask me but that's my opinion) but those us with loads of saved game data it's another story.
