Well i just got my 360 back today from the repair centre, Plug it in and turn it on, first thing i notice is the machine starts up, yet i cant hear anything, im talking dead quiet, like the quiet humming of a PS3 , I also notice after leaving the machine on all day playing games and HD movies that the machine is a hell of alot cooler than usual, the final thing i notice about the 360 now is that the on/off button is more like a touch kind of thing. lol, like a click wheel on an ipod, i didnt even push the button to turn it on, just tapped it with my finger.
I really dont know what they did to my 360, but im really liking the improvement, only took 5 days from when i sent it to get my 360 back too, same console cos i checked the serial number when it returned.
Hangs after 30 seconds / screen pixelates and I get the infamous 3 red lights. Rang support, sounded like a busy Indian call center, and got the return authorisations. An hour later had the email with packing slips - so its off to the Post Office tomorrow.
Was wondering their turn around - so a week is not too bad !!! Hope mine comes back cooler and quieter...

I got the 3 red lights also, Called customer support, they were very helpful i though, had the postage slip within 2 hours of calling them, sent it last monday (16th) got an e-mail that thursday saying they had received it, then got an e-mail on the friday saying they had already shipped it had yesterday not been a public holiday i would have received it then as the e-mail stated it would take between 2 & 4 days for me to get it.
I really am stunned at how quiet it was to start it up, there was no rip roaring engine just a nice quiet humm. Watched V for Vendetta on HDDVD remained quiet, then played guitar hero 2, then it became noisier again, but only while playing the game.
how long have you guys had yours? i have had mine since the release and need to tazke it back as im getting the 3 red lights and hanging etc. but thought it was too late... When did it get released?

Release date was March 26th 2006, Microsoft extended the warranty an extra month for all Launch Consoles. Which is indeed very lucky for you, It happened to a mate of mine who had his from launch last week, he called MS and they said he was still under warranty. Lucky he asked me before just going out and getting a new one.
My aus launch console died last night 3RLOD . Will be ringing Microsoft for sure now as i thought there would be no hope as its out of warranty. Thanks for the headsup.

Reason: typo
I had not... So when I rang customer service last Thursday, they asked when I had purchased it, I said November maybe we decided on a date of the 15th - and it was done...
(So probably got a few months extra warranty that way - lol )
Packed up and posted on Friday, no confirmation emails as yet (Monday) - lets hope it does not take too much longer than a week !

Interesting stuff, I picked up the last Core unit in a Dick smith store yesterday (it was a display model) for $299, they let me first ring MS to make sure the serial number hadn't been registered to anyone else.
Got it home, used it for about half an hour and BANG - 3 red lights of death straight away. Sometimes it'll turn on and play for a while, other times freezes straight away. Very annoying but at least I checked that MS will honour the warranty, so I guess I'll be sending mine off to get fixed as well.
Here's hoping I get whatever fixes Supafly did and then I'll be very happy with the cheap machine!
