The card you're talking about is Nvidia, a totally different breed to the ATI cards.
The ATI's actually have a sound chip built into the card for the audio, which means you don't need to run the patch cable from the mobo to the card.
You will still need the ATI adapter if your card runs DVI as opposed to a native HDMI.
In addition, the feature you're talking about was available on the 8x00 nvidia series as well. Not all of them had it, but some of the more popular ones did.
