Do you have law, marketing, journalism, political lobbying or some other skill set that can directly help with a campaign to change thinking and the law as part of your core "day job" skill set?
The discussion regarding access to data which allows Electronic Program Guides (EPGs) for Australia to be compiled has been a topic widely debated here. This has mostly been via the IceTV and Channel Nine court case related posts. Well the debate rages on, and the ramifications are large for Australian users of EPGs. Potentially our ability to have an EPG of any sort may "dry up" altogether instead of move forward into the main-stream via Microsoft, etc if we don't rectify this problem now.
Well the time has come as the largest group of interested people wanting EPG data to be freely available to step up. There has been a social group formed
here for those who want to create a campaign to fight for change in the Australian laws to ensure we see this data available long term. Anyone is welcome to join this group, but please only post to it directly on topic (and not just for support - use this thread, your membership will show that). This will avoid us needing to wade through lots of posts just to stick to the discussion.
I have stupidly

stepped up to help arrange this as a project since I have these skills as a big part of my day job. I am now looking for others who can help, specifically those that are lawyers, lobbyists, marketers, project managers, journalists, copy writers or some other discipline who's skills are going to be needed in this effort.
Once we have a plan in place it will be shared with all. We are going to need a lot of people to send an email and / or letter or two if we are going to keep our much loved EPGs (of any flavour) alive and well. More detail will follow ......
I look forward to your support.
