Re: Linux eAR OS Media Center edition

It's just not spiffy enough and the dvb-t quality I was getting was terrible. Blocky artifacts. I got much better than that last time I installed Myth on OpenSuse (actually, no difference to MCE as it should be for digital).
There's a setting to increase the quality. This unfortunately requires more cpu power.

I can't see me ditching MCE for it though.
Neither would I But it still is a handy thing. It just amazes me how easy it is to set it up compared what we are used to with mce2005. No problems with channel scanning or EPG.

I installed Kaffeine in my existing Mint Elyssa OS and the same fast set up was possible. I noticed more artifacts in live tv though.

I would conclude:

Makes you wonder why mce isn't that easy to set up
Nice to toy with and very usable as Os (Ubuntu 8.04 based)
Looks nice, fast working launcher from toolbar
Needs a better decoder
Wonder what the Pro version contains. Should have a trial version.
