Re: 14 Things that Microsoft Needs to Do with Windows 7

What about:

1. FF/Rew any media (like all other PVR software).
2. Parental control on a per folder basis. ( or any basis that lets the parent control what the children watch).
3. Recording the entire transport stream (allowing recording of 2 different programs on the same stream with one tuner).
4. Recording back to back recordings with padding using one tuner, applying the padding to the beginning and end of the entire recording and automatically splitting the recording to 2 separate titles based on guide data.
5. PIP, split pic, all tuners at once etc etc.
6. Be able to rewind and use channel jump (on press of ok), to watch 2 programs at once. i.e. The tv buffering happens on 2 or more tuners (current channel and previously viewed). So if I'm surfing and find something interesting I can rewind to see what I missed, even after I just finished watching something current.
7. Supported mixed analog/digital.
8. Media streaming to other PC based extenders.
9. Remote client/server backend configuration. Put the noisy machine with HDD's in another room.
10. Broadcast/Internet Radio recording?
11. Integrated voip/video phone.
12. Support for 4 (or more) dvb-t tuners.
13. Record from beginning of timeshift buffer.
14. Support for simple recording extension in 5 min intervals (add 5/10/15 mins to current recording etc).
15. Even better, use now/next data to KNOW when a show has finished and don't stop recording until it has.
16. Full integrated Blu-ray support.
17. Remove DVD region requirement. It's useless. I have one drive with RPC free firmware and one with and most of my DVD's are bought overseas. The ONLY dvd's that play on my machine are ones with no region encoding or locally bought ones. By comparison my store bought Pioneer DVD player plays them all. VMC is useless for DVD.

I'm sure there's plenty more and that's just media related. Start listing things you'd like to see in the OS (like real disk volume management) and the list is huge.

Cheers,

Arkay.
