thats odd, my HTPCs don't grind coffee...
and certainly don't take 10minutes to come up!

i have been concidering doing something like this (ie, backend + frontend setup) as my file server is running Ubuntu...hopefully/probably wouldn't be too hard to add the backend to it aswell...

for the install of MythBuntu, how much HDD space does it take up?
Can you set the recording folder to a network drive easilly?

I have a 4GB thumbdrive with Ubuntu installed, i could plug that into my HTPC and setup the frontend on that
