With SP1 installed, transfers screams through at between 33 MB/s (slowest at the start) up to 43 MB/s. Also once top speed has been reached, unlike pre-SP1, the transfer speed remains constant until completed.

My experiences are pretty much identical to that.
Also, the progress meter used to only update every 10 seconds or so, now it's a constant accurate figure. Obviously it doesn't help with the actual speed, but it makes you feel better.
