I have only just discovered this thread.

I have been attempting to set this up, I have had 3 goes at this from scratch but have been unable to get the files to show up in recorded tv on any of my 3 machines (2 MCE 2005 and 1 Vista)
I have followed all the steps to the letter but so far no joy
I can see the WHS shared folder and its contents on the network but I am unable to see the files in the recorded tv of MCE.
Any Ideas.
