When you go in to the advanced record screen for a series (I think it's called series settings), you can choose whether or not to record repeats, whether to record once a day only, whether or not to only look at a specific time (although it actually seaches around the specific time - I think it looks up to 90 minutes either side of the time). To access the settings for a series, go to recorded TV & go up to scheduled & then go to series.
