This happened to you?
I also think I really need to update my PC, runing XP Mce on a very early P4 and the C:\ is running on a crappy OLD IDE 80Gb HDD which is probably half dead.
It is most likely a hardware issue but in case it's software I thought I would ask. One other thing that makes me think it is hardware is when I am trying to do the DivX Skipping while recording a TV Show it takes twice as long to skip and it also puts big chunks of skipped footage into the recorded video.

No I haven't seen that problem but as you say, it's possibly a hardware issue. If your hard disk is slow and you've got only 1 Gb of RAM and you are running only a celeron processor I'd suggest you're right at the bottom of the requirements range for MCE anyway. My feeling is I would start by adding another Gb of RAM and see how it goes. If that doesn't help, try a new fast HDD for your OS and if it's still no good you might want to consider upgrading your mobo and processor. Of course it's equally important to check the condition of your OS envirenment (latest drivers, is it an old install? Is it due for a clean install?)
Good luck,
Phil
