Sorry about the tardy response but only tonight did I get a chance to test your suggestions.
The bios hacks worked perfectly, eventually, I had to play with the power settings.
I had both the 'power' & 'sleep' button's set to hibernate, I found if I set the 'sleep' button to 'stand by' then all worked well
Without the bios hack it didn't work.
I'm yet to try the 'MCE stand by tool' hveijk; does it work/behave any differently?
